‘When Calls The Heart’ Season 9 Cast: Who’s Back, Who’s New, Who’s Missing?

We are just weeks away from the premiere of When Calls The Heart Season 9. The first episode is aptly entitled, “In Like A Lion,” as the premiere is on Sunday, March 6. This fits the old saying of March as “in like a lion, out like a lamb.”

The new season of WCTH promises a new era in Hope Valley. Thankfully, there will be some old familiar faces, as well as some new ones. Sadly, there are a few that are not going to be back for Season 9.

Who is coming back for Season 9? This is the When Calls The Heart cast. There are a lot of familiar faces returning to Hope Valley for the ninth season.

Erin Krakow (It Was Always You), Pascale Hutton (You Had Me At Aloha), Jack Wagner (Sealed with a Kiss: Wedding March 6), Kavan Smith (Stargate), Chris McNally (A Dog Named Indie), Kevin McGarry (The Wedding Veil), Andrea Brooks (Supergirl), Martin Cummins (Riverdale), Kayla Wallace (Feeling Butterflies), Loretta Walsh (A Picture Perfect Wedding), Viv Leacock (Lost in Space),  Johannah Newmarch (The Curse of Willow Song), Natasha Burnett (Love at First Bark), Ben Rosenbaum (It Was Always You), Hrothgar Mathews (Motherland: Fort Salem), Vienna Leacock (Time For Us To Come Home For Christmas), and Elias Leacock (Lost In Space).

Who Is Not Back For WCTH Season 9?

Although there are a lot of familiar faces and newcomers to Hope Valley, When Calls The Heart Season 9 will not include a few characters. These When Call The Heart cast members will not be back.

They include Jesse and Clara, portrayed by Aren Buchholz, and Eva Bourne. Thanks to a Hallmark sneak peek, we learn that the newly married couple is in Montana. Thanks to a letter from Clara to Bill (Wagner), the Leacocks (Burnett, Viv, Vienna, and Elias Leacock), learn that they are homesteading in Montana.

In addition, Paul Greene is not going to be back as Dr. Carson Shepherd. Instead, he starred in Hallmark’s Christmas CEO, and became a father for the second time, along with fiancée Kate Austin. Their son Austin was born in early December.

Lastly, the Taylor Twins will not be back for Season 9. Gunner and Lincoln, who portrayed Little Jack, are taking a year off. Newcomer Hyland Goodrich is playing him for Season 9.

Who Are When Calls The Heart Season 9 Newcomers?

Besides Hyland Goodrich portraying Little Jack, who are some of the Hope Valley Season 9 newcomers. Two of the new When Calls The Heart cast members are mystery men. The first is Arthur Gilchrist, portrayed by Matthew James Dowden (The Christmas Promise). The other is Geoffrey Lewis, portrayed by Chris Cope (Christmas In Evergreen).

Most importantly, Mei Sou Amanda Wong (Mystery 101) could be Nathan’s new love interest. The couple is featured in the new When Calls The Heart Season 9 promotional poster.

What do we know about the first episode of When Calls The Heart Season 9? Besides the title, the Hallmark synopsis reads, “Change is in the air for Hope Valley with the foundry that’s to be built and the upcoming mayoral election. Elizabeth (Krakow) arrives home from a trip to Hamilton. A potential investor arrives in town to discuss the oil business with Lucas (McNally).”

When Calls The Heart Season 9 premieres on Sunday, March 6, at 8 p.m. Eastern, on the Hallmark Channel.
