Dallas Alum Patrick Duffy Stars In The Christmas Promise

Patrick Duffy is starring in this upcoming Miracles of Christmas movie about rebuilding your life after the tragic loss of a love. Sometimes life can be a bit like a Hallmark movie.

In 2017, the Dallas alum lost his beloved wife, ballet dancer Carlyn Rosser, to cancer. Duffy told People, “My wife and I, in 48 years we were always together.”

For the next few years, Duffy enjoyed being a father to his two grown sons, and grandpa to his four grandchildren. He was now “accustomed to life as a widower.”

Then Covid hit.

For most people, especially Duffy, who was now in his early 70s, this meant solitary isolation. However, Duffy was part of a group text that included Happy Days actress Linda Purl. The two were friends but were out of touch for a while. But, now that they were in touch, they kept the conversation going, while the other friends stopped messaging.

There was a spark and Duffy was going to find out if it was real. He explained, “I loaded up my car and drove 20 hours and ended up on her doorstep just to see if it was real.” Moreover, he shared, “We haven’t been apart since.”

Be sure to catch Patrick, Torrey, and Dylan in A Christmas Promise. This premieres on Saturday, October 30, at 10 p.m., Eastern, on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.

  1. Not realistic!!!!! Grief is overwhelming and this movie makes light of it. Twisting to make someone quit grieving and move on with someone else. Too soon for someone that lost their other half. Grief is never ending just changes.
