‘Golden Bachelor’ Gerry Turner’s Divorce Shocked His Family
Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist announced their divorce via Good Morning America on April 12, but did they tell his dad Everett first? If not, it must have been a huge surprise for him. It would also be interesting to find out if he told any of his daughters as well.
Gerry Turner’s Dad Everett Didn’t Like Theresa Nist
In December last year, Everett got candid about Theresa Nist and straight-up admitted that he didn’t care for her. Of course, ABC fans thought that might make for some awkward family moments. He was 92 years old at the time, but still completely aware of what was going on. But, was he aware that the couple decided on a split three months after their wedding?
Golden Bachelor fans heard from Gerry Turner’s dad before the wedding and he still didn’t sound wild about her. However, he tempered his dislike by saying that he’s “bound” to like her now as his son is tying the knot. Well, if he didn’t like her then, he might like her less because apparently, the ABC couple did not tell him about the divorce. Ironically, on GMA Gerry said they they were so dedicated to their families.

Golden Bachelor Divorce Was A Surprise For Everett
Everett previously claimed that he liked Leslie Fhima and he expected that his son would choose her. Well, ABC fans also agreed he chose the wrong person. Then again, these days, they tell Leslie that she dodged a bullet. But, she’s being very gracious about it and claimed she and Theresa are still good friends.
The news that Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist didn’t tell Everett about the divorce came via The Sun. The outlet spoke with Gerry’s dad and they cited him as saying:
We are just as surprised as everyone else. We didn’t know [about the divorce] until we started getting calls. [And,] We haven’t talked to him, so that’s all we know.
When he spoke about “we,” he referred to himself and his wife Peggy, Gerry’s step-mom. He didn’t mention anything about the Golden Bachelor‘s daughters and whether the divorce news was also a surprise to them.
Many ABC fans might not be shocked about Everett being let in the dark. As time goes by, those who started off liking Gerry a lot, decided that he’s a bit of a shady character. Notably, the allegations from his former girlfriend also did his rep a lot of damage.
