Derek Hough Believes Wife Can Dance Again After Skull Surgery
After Derek Hough’s wife Hayley Erbert suffered a cranial hematoma back in December, the DWTS judge put his life on pause to care for her. Fortunately, it seems that Hayley is recovering well and looking forward to the future.
Recently, Derek announced he decided to resume the Symphony of Dance Tour, rescheduling canceled shows and even adding new dates. However, it wasn’t immediately clear if Hayley would be well enough to perform on the tour as well.
Although Hayley Erbert’s road to recovery has been long and arduous, Derek Hough believes she will dance again.
Derek Hough Says His Wife’s Journey Is Inspiring
After Hayley’s medical emergency, the Dancing With The Stars family rallied around her and prayed for a miracle. Thankfully, she is on the mend and comfortably recovering at home.
But can she resume her place on stage during Derek’s tour?
Nothing is certain yet, but Derek Hough believes in her.
“There’s a possibility, there really is,” the 38-year-old spoke with E! News about Hayley’s potential return to the stage. “And we actually met dancing on stage on tour. Our first kiss was on stage on tour. We were touring last year for the first time as a married couple and now this, going back out, there’s a completely different meaning and tension.”
The Utah native went on to explain how Hayley’s journey inspires him to keep performing.

“I almost need to rename the tour to the Miracle Tour or something, because if there’s a moment where she’s with us and joining us on stage, it’s going to be unbelievably special. I don’t know even know how I’m going to through it. I’m an emotional guy,” Derek continued.
In the meantime, fans have spotted Hayley on Derek’s social media channels staying active. Even if she isn’t quite ready to perform on tour, she’s prioritizing her physical health and well-being.
The Professional Dancer Keeps Going
As Hayley Erbert recovers, she still has plenty to be excited about these days. She is best friends with professional dancer Britt Stewart, who is eagerly planning her wedding to actor Daniel Durant.
“Hayley was one of the first people that I called after we got engaged,” Britt told The Messenger. “She’s like, ‘I am so ready to begin wedding planning with you.’ As soon as I’m ready, she’s ready. … She’s just waiting for me to pick up the phone and call her to dive in deep.”
Britt served as a bridesmaid in Derek and Hayley’s wedding, so it seems likely Hayley will be heavily involved in her wedding as well. In the meantime, fans wish the dancer the best during her recovery.
