Mari Pepin Exposes Bachelor Manipulation Tactics?

Reality TV contestants have been pulling the curtain back for years on how ‘real’ these shows are. For example, Bachelorette alum Dylan Barbour made shocking claims against the show for faking storylines.

TLC’s 90 Day Fiance is another show that viewers have questioned its authenticity. Bachelor Nation fans called out the producers for putting senior Gerry Turner in danger during the Golden Bachelor.

Viewers adore Season 28 lead Joey Graziadei, but not even his season is immune to alleged outrageous behavior from the producers. Fans also weren’t happy about one-on-one dates featuring Daisy Kent and Jenn Tran.

Bachelor In Paradise alum Mari Pepin is the latest reality star to expose behind-the-scenes secrets. During a recent interview with The Mirror, she revealed how producers allegedly create drama to entertain viewers at home.

She claims the editors used what’s known as ‘Frankenbiting’ to manipulate the narrative. Mari told the outlet that she was angry when she discovered the alleged manipulation tactic was used on her.

How It Works

Mari explained the term as “when they take little snippets of audio and they kind of like weave it together to form a sentence.” So, basically, what you’re hearing may not be what the contestants actually said.

She cautioned viewers, “If you don’t actually see their mouths moving while they say it there’s a good chance that it’s actually ‘frankenbitten’ and edited in a certain way.”

Mari Pepin got her happy ending with her now-husband Kenny Braasch on Bachelor In Paradise, so why is she speaking out now? The alum doesn’t seem to hold a grudge against the producers but wanted to bring awareness to something she’s noticed as a viewer.

According to Mari, the manipulation tactic was something that happened to her. “I can’t recall [the instances] off the top of my head now but I remember watching back and being like ‘That’s not what I said’ or they cut off a part of a sentence to make it sound like it was something else,” she told the outlet.
