Wheel Of Fortune Contestant Cheated Out Of Win

Shauna Williams completed a puzzle in the “Same Letter” category. The answer turned out to be “Congenial Company & Clever Conversation.” Unfortunately for Shauna, she stumbled on the first word.

Wheel Of Fortune host Pat Sajak was not keen on letting the contestant’s mispronunciation slide. “Uh, no,” Pat said and gave the answer to her opponent, Steve Sporre. Steve pronounced the word correctly and was given the points.

Viewers swiftly took to social media to talk about Pat Sajak’s decision to not give the points to Shauna Williams. Several fans made jokes about the mispronunciation of the word.

One person wrote on Xformerly known as Twitter, “No way this lady lost Wheel of Fortune with the entire puzzle solved,” followed by multiple laughing face emojis.

Many people also questioned whether or not pronunciation had always been part of the Wheel Of Fortune rules. Some viewers thought that Pat’s decision was wrong.

“That is so wrong, with if the [person] has an accent, are they screwed because of that. What if that’s the way she has always pronounced It. Something very wrong here,” one person weighed in.

Another person stuck up for Pat Sajak, stating that pronunciation has always been a part of the rules. “Everyone that plays the game knows the rule of proper pronunciation, its Pat’s job to enforce it. Can’t blame the messenger,” they wrote on X.

A fellow Wheel Of Fortune viewer agreed. “I have to laugh at how everyone always blames Pat for this stuff. You do realize there are judges and producers off camera that make that call and then relay it to Pat through an earpiece. And she wasn’t even close in her pronunciation,” they chimed in on the discussion.

This isn’t the first time a contestant has lost the game due to a mispronunciation. In fact, mispronouncing a word cost Paul Atkinson $1 million on Wheel Of Fortune years ago.
