‘Wheel Of Fortune’: When Does Ryan Seacrest Start Hosting?

It was on Monday, June 12, 2023, when Pat Sajak announced he would be retiring from Wheel Of Fortune. While some thought Vanna White made sense as his replacement, she is 66 years old. So, from a longevity perspective, she didn’t make for an ideal choice as she would likely be retiring soon too. Understandably, fans had a lot of opinions on who should step in as the next host. Ultimately, however, the decision was left to the Wheel of Fortune higher-ups. And, they selected Ryan Seacrest.

On June 27, 2023, Ryan Seacrest took to his Instagram to issue an official statement on replacing Pat Sajak as the next Wheel of Fortune host.

I’m truly humbled to be stepping into the footsteps of the legendary Pat Sajak. I can say, along with the rest of America, that it’s been a privilege and pure joy to watch Pat and Vanna on our television screens for an unprecedented 40 years, making us smile every night and feel right at home with them.

As a longtime career in hosting on both American Idol and Live with Kelly Ripa, Wheel of Fortune fans have high hopes for Ryan Seacrest. The question is: When exactly does he start? Keep reading for what information has been made available regarding this question.

Wheel Of Fortune: When Does Ryan Seacrest Start Hosting?

Ryan Seacrest officially takes over as host of Wheel of Fortune for Season 42. Unfortunately, Season 42 does not have a scheduled premiere date this year. Multiple outlets, however, anticipate Season 42 of Wheel of Fortune to premiere during the Fall of 2024. So, some are guessing that Ryan will likely officially start his hosting duties around September 2024.

Fortunately, this means Ryan Seacrest still has a little shy of a year to prepare for his new hosting gig. However, given his experience in the industry, fans can only assume he’s not sweating stepping into the role in the least.

Fans of Wheel of Fortune are more than a little disappointed Pat Sajak is retiring. He, however, is 77 years old. So, fans agree that he’s worked long enough and deserves a chance to spend the end of his life relaxing.

While most agree no one is truly going to fit in Pat’s shoes and serve as an ideal replacement, fans don’t hate the idea of Ryan Seacrest. Furthermore, Ryan also made it very clear how respectful he was of Pat Sajak and how honored he was to take over for him. Even Ryan seemingly knows he can never be Pat Sajak. He, however, hopes he can do his legacy justice.
