Gerry & Theresa Talk Jealousy During ‘Golden Bachelor’ Journey

Why He Chose Theresa Nist
Many Bachelor Nation fans were disappointed in Gerry Turner for choosing Theresa Nist over Leslie Fhima as his future wife. Both women were great matches for the 72-year-old widow, but Nist had an edge by being able to relate to losing a spouse.
As Fhima struggled to understand his decision, Turner said, “It didn’t really go wrong, Leslie. It just was better with someone else.”
The newly engaged couple were guests on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast. The podcast is hosted by newlyweds Serena Pitt and Joe Amabile, who met on Season 7 of Bachelor In Paradise.
Turner talked about the differences between finding love at a younger age and finding love in his golden years. He said the first time, you want someone to start a family with. “This time, we’re looking for equal partners. Someone who will enjoy life with you and has the same philosophies about life as you do.”
The one thing that seems to have cemented Nist and Turner’s relationship is the heartbreak of losing a spouse. Gerry Turner’s wife of 43 years died in 2017. Theresa Nist lost her husband of 24 years in 2014. Both couples were high school sweethearts.
Fhima, on the other hand, has been married and divorced twice.
However, one viewer took to Twitter to call out Turner for mistaking a connection to trauma bonding.

Gerry & Theresa Talk Jealousy During Golden Bachelor Journey
Jealousy is a mainstay in the Bachelor Nation franchise. It’s impossible not to get jealous when the person you’re interested in is dating dozens of other people at the same time. However, Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist claim there was no jealousy on her part.
“There was absolutely no insecurity or jealousy from her and that also stood out to me,” he said on the podcast.
Nist explained how she was able to keep those feelings at bay, “From the very beginning of this journey, I only ever wanted him to find the best possible person for him.”
During the season, Theresa Nist and Kathy Swarts butted heads over Nist revealing too much to the other women about her time alone with Turner.
“Was I nervous? Not really, that’s just not me. I knew that if it was meant to be, it was meant to be,” Nist said of her connection with Turner.
The Golden Bachelor did admit to thinking she was “faking” her calm demeanor. “But then I saw it play over and over again. and this woman is completely unselfish and open-minded,” he added.
