A Closer Look At Musical Cast Of Fox’s ‘Monarch’
Monarch is finally coming to Fox after months of advertisements and promotions. The show has been non-stop advertising for the show since early summer, and the country music drama musical series will finally premiere on Sunday night, September 11.
While this show was supposed to hit last year, the pandemic slowed things down, but it is finally time to see the country musical drama. Here is a look at what you can expect in the show, and the amazing musical cast of Monarch.
What is Monarch about?
Monarch is a musical drama about a country music family, the Romans. The family’s leaders are Dottie Roman (Susan Sarandon) and Albie Roman (Trace Adkins). They have created a country music dynasty together, but things are not what they seem to be. Roman’s daughter Nicky Roman (Anna Friel) steps in to protect the dynasty’s reign in country music while ensuring her own stardom.
As the TV spots have shown, Monarch looks like it is as much a crime drama as it is a musical one. There are lots of guns, secrets, conspiracies, and danger throughout the entire trailer. The cast is also pretty huge for Monarch. The actors involved are Susan Sarandon, Trace Adkins, Anna Friel, Joshua Sasse, Beth Ditto, Meagan Holder, Inigo Pascual, Adam Croasdell, Martha Higareda, and Emma Milani.
Breaking down the cast
The biggest name actress here is Susan Sarandon. She has been a huge star in Hollywood for years, winning an Academy Award (Dead Man Walking), and picking up nominations for Primetime Emmys (Friends) and Golden Globes (Thelma and Louise).
Playing her husband is Trace Adkins. This gives the show its first major country music name. Trace has more than 20 singles that have charted on the country music charts with number one songs like “This Ain’t) No Thinkin’ Thing”, “Ladies Love Country Boys”, and “You’re Gonna Miss This” He also has a long career as an actor, but really picked things up in 2011 with The Lincoln Lawyer and in 2016 with Deepwater Horizon.
There are a bunch of other singers in the show as well. Beth Ditto plays Gigi-Taylor Roman. Beth is an indie singer and also fronted the band Gossip. Her most successful hit was “Running Low” in 2014, which hit number one in Belgium. Inigo Pascual is Ace Grayson, a Filipino musician who won a Grammy for “‘Dahil Sa’yo” in 2016.
A much bigger name for country music fans on Monarch is Shania Twain. She will take on a guest role on the show. Shania is the sixth best-selling female artist in history for U.S. sales and has won five Grammy Awards with 18 nominations. On top of Shania, other major country stars appearing in guest roles are Little Big Town, Martina McBride, and Tanya Tucker.
