It has been nearly a year since Hallmark Movies & Mysteries aired Mystery 101: Deadly History. This mystery ended on a cliffhanger that has Sleuthers calling for a resolution.

Since then, an Instagram account was started that is devoted solely to the series. In addition, there is not a week that goes by that someone asks about the next Mystery 101 on Reddit.

Do we have some news on this mystery? Here is the latest news.

Mystery 101 Star Kristoffer Polaha Updates Fans On Series

At the recent Christmas Con in Pasadena, not everyone asked questions about holiday movies. Some wanted to know about the status of Mystery 101. Best of all, Kristoffer Polaha had an update that fans should be happy to hear. Thanks to the very active Kristoffer Polaha Facebook group, we know what he said.

A fan asked Kris, “Are there any Mystery 101 movies planned?” This led to a lot of noise in the audience. The fan continued, “It was such a cliffhanger. You can’t leave us there!”

Kristoffer Polaha promised, “We are not gonna leave you there.” Then he continued:

“This isn’t actor talk, or BS, or anything like that. I have spoken with Lisa, over at Hallmark, and Randy Pope, Elizabeth Yost, who is in charge of all of the non-Christmas pictures.”

The executives that Kris is referring to are Lisa Hamilton Daly, the Executive Vice President of Programming for Hallmark Media, Randy Pope who is Senior Vice President of Programming/Development at Hallmark Media, and Elizabeth Yost who is Vice President of Development at Hallmark Media.

“We have every intention of continuing the story of Travis and Amy. We just have to make sure that A: It’s the right way to do it. B: Jill’s available. C: I’m available.”

Next, he pointed out, “Really, technically, it has only been about a year. We are in TV land.” Although there were some groans of frustration, the overall response was very enthusiastic.

Moreover, it should be. These high-ranking executives are behind this next mystery movie. This is positive news. Already some mysteries have been canceled.

Mystery 101 Has Not Been Canceled

No matter what Kristoffer Polaha is promoting, everyone wants to know about the status of Mystery 101. Back in June, when the Double Holiday star was promoting his excellent Lifetime thriller, Buried In Barstow, he was asked by Metacritic about the series.

Although at that time, he did not have new information, he did confirm that the series was not canceled.

“Mystery 101 is, for all intents and purposes, on a very long hiatus. We will find out about the future of Mystery 101. That’s not to say it’s canceled, but I have no dates as to when we’re going to do No. 8.”

The reason this is so important is that there have been Hallmark Mysteries that have been canceled in the past year. They include Matchmaker Mysteries, Picture Perfect Mysteries, and Hailey Dean Mysteries. We know that they were canceled because Danica McKellar, Alexa PenaVega, and Kellie Martin all confirmed on social media that their series was canceled.

In addition, when Candace Cameron Bure defected to Great American Media, Hallmark confirmed that they had no plans to make any more Aurora Teagarden Mysteries.

As for the Gourmet Detective Mysteries, Dylan Neal, who starred and co-wrote the series shared on his social media that there were no more planned. He and his family moved to Portugal at the end of last year, and his only response to the series is that Hallmark had his number.

What Are Jill Wagner And Kristoffer Polaha Doing Now?

Currently, Jill Wagner is getting ready to start filming her new Paramount+ series, Lioness. Originally, it was going to start filming in June, but there was a major showrunner shakeup.

This turned out to be the best for the series, because Yellowstone creator, Taylor Sheridan, is now the showrunner of the series that Wagner created with Sheridan.

As for Polaha, he has a lot going on. First, he should be filming a second Barstow movie with Angie Harmon soon.

Also, the second novel he co-wrote with Anna Gomez, Where The Sun Rises (From Kona With Love), will be released on October 11, 2022. There has been news that they are trying to develop these books into movies.

As for filming the next Mystery 101, we need to wait for both stars to have some free time to film. Meanwhile, many Sleuthers are sending emails to Hallmark Media and supporting their favorite mystery.

Hopefully, Polaha’s next update is from the set and that they are filming the conclusion of the Deadly History cliffhanger.

  1. They need to bring back all the mystery shows. I hardly ever watch it now since they changed there format. Bring back mystery 101. You had something good and you screwed it up.

    1. I couldn’t agree more. I used to enjoy watching Mystery 101 reruns, but since the cliffhanger, I can’t. If it’s never resolved, I will never watch another Mystery 101.

      1. I agree with all the other fans. Mystery 101 is outstanding. The acting is so believable and the plots are brilliant. Why is that whenever they get a winning formula they scrap it? Aren’t we the fans even considered. Hats off to the cast and crew. You’ve done a great job.

      2. I don’t get it. It was one of the most popular Mystery series. How can Amy and Travis be in love one minute and 11 months later she is engaged to someone else. That was mean to leave us hanging. They have to bring it back to at least tell us why they were no longer a couple.

    2. Yes, Elizabeth, I agree with you. All three of the actors, Jill Wagner, Kristoffer Polaha, and Robin Thomas were believable. They worked so well together on-screen. It wasn’t just the two stars, Wagner and Polaha either; Thomas as Amy’s father, just seems to fit the part perfectly as well.

  2. I agree that mysteries need to come back! Mystery 101 is best but Hailey Dean and Crossword Mysteries are great too!

    1. Yes all of those mysteries were good. I guess we can demand, yell or whatever and Hallmark doesn’t really care what we want. It’s hard because you get into one of those mystery shows and bang it’s cancelled or waiting for it to maybe return. No way to treat your fans.

  3. I don’t watch unless it’s a mystery. If I want romance (hardly ever) I watch the regular Hallmark Channel. I really enjoy Mystery 101.

  4. Murder 101 is my favorite mystery series, I also liked the crossword mysteries, & aurora Teagarden too. Hallmark is hanging by a thread with me & if the first 2 I listed are canceled I will be done completely with them. They’ve changed the direction from good family entertainment to things I will never watch. So sad that they’ve mad all these changes, very sad.

  5. I am sorry about Hailey Dean Mysteries. Praying they don’t cancel Mystery 101 or Crossword Mysteries. They are both awesome. I watch the old ones over and over

  6. I find it difficult to believe hallmark on this. Seems to me they’ve had no scheduling problems doing the previously made movies & now we’re to believe that it’s a problem now. Clearly Jill Wagner was even able to do them while pregnant. Murder 101 is the only reason I’m hanging on & if there’s not going to be another one I’ll find other channels to watch. I’ve not been impressed with any of the “ new “ series they’ve come up with.

  7. I think you should fire the writers they’re idiots. The same thing happened to Castle they run that program to why is it when you got a winning formula you look for ways to change it I think you should find a new line of work because you really stink at this

  8. I would to see another Murder 101 to see what happens with the cliffhanger the last movie ended with. There are several mystery series that ended with unsolved or open questions.

  9. Hallmark apparently doesn’t care about their customers, this coming August (2023) will be 2 yrs since Mystery 101 left us with a CLIFFHANGER !
Why isn’t Hallmark forthcoming with an answer to its viewers ?

  10. I suspect, based on the weekend time slot and the number of ads, Hallmark already knows how popular Murder 101 is. Please bring back the series. We can’t watch reruns forever.

    1. Watching a rerun for the fourth time!!! What goes on? Will this show be back or not? I’ll be switching to GAC soon. Mystery 101 is great!!! Love it!!! Announce an answer…one way or not!!!

  11. I love it! all those stars went to GAF and not one has made a movie yet. All you see is reran reruns, from. the 70s etc.
I don’t even look at GAF. What kind of paycheck can they get?

  12. I really have enjoyed several of the mysteries on Hallmark, but am extremely disappointed that Mystery 101 dropped us with the cliffhanger, and no real update on resuming the series. If Kristoffer Polaha is saying it’s in the works, that is good news. But, will we get just a fix for the cliffhanger and nothing else? What does Hallmark expect of us who love many of the Mysteries series? If there is no intention to keep some of these going, then I guess it’s time to find new shows that maintain the standards Hallmark set. I want well written, thought-provoking content with moral standards. Hallmark has been the only place this kind of content remains, for the most part. Stop cancelling these good series, and create more content that made us fans of your channel. Or lose us. Your call.
