Tom Brady Says ‘I’m Worthless’ About ‘Masked Singer’ Rumors
Tom Brady took time off from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during the preseason. While he refused to say what it was for, he was off at the exact same time that The Masked Singer taped this season’s competition. This led to rumors that Brady was following his good friend Rob Gronkowski onto the reality competition.
However, Brady denied he took part in the show. Despite his denials, co-host Jim Gray asked him about it again on his Sirius XM show, Let’s Go! With Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald and Jim Gray.
Tom Brady says he is too ‘worthless’ for The Masked Singer
Tom Brady was talking about the new season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The team got off to a nice start when he led them to a win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1 of the NFL season. However, his co-host Jim Gray asked again about The Masked Singer rumors. Brady took an extended leave from the Buccaneers in the pre-season and then finally returned one day after The Masked Singer finished taping.
“I don’t know where they get all these things. They gotta talk about something,” Brady said on his Sirius XM show. “Wasn’t me. I wasn’t masked and I’m not a singer. So that wouldn’t really fit my profile. I’m basically good at one thing, which is throwing passes. Other than that, I’m basically worthless.”
From all accounts, Brady took a vacation with his wife, supermodel Gisele Bündchen, while he left the Buccaneers. Even if he had shown up to compete on the show, there isn’t a real chance he was there the entire time the show taped. There are changes to The Masked Singer this season and only one singer moves on each week, so the chance of a non-singer like Brady sticking around to the end is unlikely.
Other NFL stars on The Masked Singer
Brady wouldn’t have been the first NFL star on The Masked Singer. He wouldn’t even be the first Tampa Bay Buccaneers player to compete on the show. One of Brady’s closest friends from the NFL, Rob Gronkowski, appeared on Season 3 as White Tiger. Gronk won Super Bowl titles with Brady in Tampa Bay and the New England Patriots. He sang “Ice Ice Baby” by Vanilla Ice, “Good Vibrations” by Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch, “We Will Rock You” by Queen, and “I’m Too Sexy” by Right Said Fred before his elimination.
Antonio Brown, who played with Brady for one season in Tampa Bay, took part in the first season of The Masked Singer. Other NFL stars on The Masked Singer included former New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez, Philadelphia Eagles offensive tackle Jordan Mailata, and Hall of Fame quarterback Terry Bradshaw.
