‘Seeking Sister Wife’ Garrick Merrifield’s Brazil Wedding Fake?
Seeking Sister Wife star Garrick Merrifield had a long time to arrange his wedding to Nathalia in Brazil, but he seemed ignorant of how things work in the country. Either that or it was all made up for TLC drama.
Garrick Merrifield Made Dannielle Nervous
Dannielle Merrifield seemed to suddenly realize that her husband wasn’t legally married to her after their divorce. The realization came that she had no rights if he should choose to just leave her and run off with Nathalia permanently. So, some Seeking Sister Wife fans think that’s why she might have deliberately fallen pregnant.
Garrick Merrifield went off to Brazil for about six weeks, and he and Nathalia were bustling about trying to make a baby ahead of their wedding. Seeking Sister Wife fans saw that Dannielle arrived for the ceremony, but it didn’t work out. Garrick was shocked that the government investigated him and found out about his polygamist life.
Seeking Sister Wife Fan Explains How Weddings Happen In Brazil
On Reddit, a TLC fan who seems to know all about Brazil explained why Garrick and Nathalia got it all wrong. He seemed keen to just pop down to the court and do the deed. However, it takes a lot more planning than that.
The long post about Garrick Merrifield revealed that it’s not as easy to marry in Brazil as it is in the USA. The OP said in part:
…In Brazil, it’s [a] completely different process. The couple apply for the marriage license, they bring documents to the office and wait for approval. After it is approved by a judge , they get the actual licenses. There is a type of “investigation” to be sure none of the parties are already in a marital relationship with someone, if their are related etc. With this license on hand, they go to court and set up the date for the civil ceremony, done at the court. They leave the court legally married. Done. If the judge was still investigating Garrick, that means they didn’t have the license to set up the date for the wedding. The whole “we were gonna marry tomorrow” was bs.

Irrespective, judging by Nathalia’s reaction to Dannielle Merrifield’s pregnancy, she might not have wanted to marry Garrick anyway.
