Recently, Jeopardy! host, Ken Jennings, hops on the latest Taylor Swift bandwagon. While showing his support for the pop star’s popular trend, he gets a bit of pushback from fans.
Taylor Swift’s Trend Gets Attention From Jeopardy! Fans
On Thursday, April 25, Jeopardy! host, Ken Jenning joins the Taylor Swift hype. But in a rare instance, Jeopardy! fans enjoy knocking him for his miscalculation. Notably, the newest Swift trend is in response to the song “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?” Furthermore, Taylor’s song dropped with thirty-one other new tracks on her latest studio album, The Tortured Poets Department. Within her eleventh album, which was a shocking double album drop on April 19, fans are tagging on to one set of lyrics in particular. In the song Taylor says, “You wouldn’t last an hour in the asylum where they raised me.” Of course, the Internet is running wild, sharing memes, photos, and videos about their individual “asylum” experiences. Oftentimes jokingly, but in other instances reflecting on difficulties they have survived. Many of the clips use Taylor’s song to express their “pain.”
Ken Jennings Joins The Popular Taylor Swift Trend
When Ken Jennings saw the newest trend circulating from Swifties, he saw his opportunity and used X to deliver his message. Following the trend, he posts, “You wouldn’t last an hour in the asylum where they raised me.” Then he jokingly adds a photo of the Jeopardy! studio where he has spent a large portion of his life. Furthermore, he was referring to the years he spent competing on the show. Notably, Ken once had an impressive seventy-four-game winning streak on Jeopardy! in 2004. Later, he became the new permanent host after the difficult passing of Alex Trebek.
Ken Jennings Sparks Fans’ Pushback
After Ken Jennings shared his “asylum,” Jeopardy! fans were quick to jump on his “error.” Several fans were eager to point out it is impossible to last “an hour” on Jeopardy! Furthermore, discussing that the show airs in thirty-minute segments.
- One X user says, “It’s a half hour show, Ken.”
- “Good thing the show’s only 30 minutes.”
- Another fan gives Ken credit on a technicality, “The show is only 30 minutes so you are technically correct.”
- Then a fan asserts, “Only need 22 minutes,” since the thirty-minute show run time also includes commercials.
- Someone else pokes fun at Ken Jennings, reminding him to phrase his response in the form of a question, starting with, “What is.” Likewise, the X user laughably tweets, “I’m sorry, the correct response is ‘What is you wouldn’t last an hour in the asylum where they raised me.’”
- Additionally, another user pointed out that “his asylum” looked a little different than the picture he added.
