‘Teen Mom’ Maci Bookout & Hubby Reveal Secret To Staying Married
Teen Mom star Maci Bookout and her husband, Taylor McKinney are revealing their secret to staying married. They wed seven years ago and, though they have had their ups and downs, managed to make it work. Keep reading for more details on the method to their madness.

After having her first child as a teenager with her then-love, Ryan Edwards, it was hard for Maci Bookout to walk away. Eventually, she realized that the two could not work out and had to go their separate ways but they still had to try and co-parent their son, Bentley. She moved on with a childhood friend, Kyle King but that ultimately flopped and then she met Taylor McKinney. The two fell in love and welcomed two children, a daughter named Jayde and a son, named Maverick. In 2016, they walked down the aisle and have been making it work ever since.
They started a clothing company and even work at flipping homes. However, they just landed on the latest season of Teen Mom: Family Reunion where they will address any relationship issues that they have. According to E! News, they were completely blindsided by the work that was ahead of them when they arrived in Colombia to film:
“Truth be told, walking into it, I was like, Oh, great, we get to be away from the kids, be with each other and hang out with our friends. Like, it’s a vacation. I’m not sure we were expecting all of the work we were going to have to do when we got there.”
Though they have been together for over a decade, they have one big issue they struggle with:
“I think the main thing was communication, for sure. And honestly, it still is. I feel like we’re still working on what a healthy communication routine looks like. And who’s to say we ever solve it? Because we’re both hustlers, we’re go-getters, we’re stubborn, we’re competitive, we’re strong-minded. So that might be something that is just there forever. But I think as long as we’re continuously trying to figure out the best way to do it, that’s a win.”
However, Maci Bookout did share how she and Taylor make their marriage work and that is celebrating “small wins.” They have found that spending time just connecting at home can be as valuable as a fancy night out if the work is put in. Plus, they remind themselves that the common goal is to work together.
Family First
Maci Bookout and Taylor McKinney also really value their family and the work that they have put into it. More so, the mother of three shares that they work amazingly well together. They have to juggle the children doing opposite things, they handle it, and then they get to be alone and regroup which is a very special time. Finally, being in Colombia helped them realize how much they truly enjoy one another’s company. Maci shared she was reminded that Taylor is just an amazing man in all ways so she is happy to have him in her life.
“And I feel like that was the reset button because I was like, ‘He** yeah, I’d hang out with this guy every day, he’s great!’ So for me, it was like, we’re definitely still there. I really like him, not just as a dad or just as a husband, I just like hanging out with him.”
