‘Teen Mom’ Ryan Edwards Seeking 50/50 Custody Of His Children

Teen Mom star Ryan Edwards is reportedly seeking 50/50 custody and child support during his divorce from his wife Mackenzie. The couple has been working through a divorce for over a year. Now, recent court documents revealed that Ryan is seeking split custody of their two children. Keep reading to see what other details have been uncovered.

Details About The Divorce Between Mackenzie & Ryan Edwards

Mackenzie Edwards initially filed for divorce from Ryan in February 2023. However, the case was dismissed in February of this year because there had been no filings on the matter for more than 270 days.

It was reported that the estranged couple tried to settle the divorce in mediation on February 21, 2024. Documents state that they were not able to settle the case out of court.

Then, in March, the court issued a mutual restraining order, restricting them both from seeing or making contact with each other. It is stated that Mackenzie is only permitted to contact Ryan Edwards’ family “regarding visitation with the children.”

On March 6, Ryan Edwards refiled the divorce paperwork, citing “irreconcilable differences” for the reason for the split. In Ryan’s filing, he is also requesting 50/50 custody of their children Jagger, 5, and Stella, 4.

The couple also has two other children. Mackenzie has a 10-year-old son, Hudson, who she shares with her ex-husband Zachary Stephens. The Teen Mom star also has a son, Bentley, 15, who he shares with his ex-wife Maci Bookout.

In the court documents, the MTV star is also demanding to be named the “designated the primary residential parent” and “that child support be assigned from [Mackenzie’s] income.”

It also requests that both Mackenzie and Ryan Edwards aren’t allowed to relocate their kids out of state or 50 miles from their current home without expressed permission from the other parent or the court.

The documents also lay out some rules regarding the divorce proceedings. They state that Ryan and Mackenzie must communicate about finances and insurance plans until the divorce is finalized. It also states that neither party can “dissipate or dispose of” property while the divorce is happening. Additionally, neither of them can “hide, destroy or spoil, in whole or in part, any evidence electronically stored or on computer hard drives or other memory storage devices.”

The Teen Mom star’s filing also explicitly states that he has never been convicted of a felony. At this time, Mackenzie has not responded to the divorce filing.

Last year, Ryan Edwards received an 11-month and 29-day sentence for several charges. The charges he was convicted of included DUI, harassment, and two counts of possession of controlled substances. He was released early on December 23, 2023.
