Lately, Wheel Of Fortune fans are beginning to wonder if Pat Sajak is just counting the days until his retirement. While Pat and Vanna White have been a staple on the long-running show, some believe he is ready for his reign to be over. For instance, during a recent episode, Pat insults a player about his career choice and struggles to get back on track.

Pat Sajak Is Getting Rusty

While Pat Sajak is well seasoned with over four decades of hosting, seemingly he is getting a bit rusty as he sprints toward retirement. On the Tuesday episode of Wheel Of Fortune, Pat outright mocks one contestant during the interviews. Within the show, Matt, a father of two, awkwardly goes through the motions after Pat makes him the butt of a poorly timed transition joke.

Joke Falls Flat

First addressing Matt, Pat Sajak says, “You’re used to wearing odd clothes because…” But hesitates saying, “Not that those are odd, but you were a mascot.” Undoubtedly, the joke falls flat with the audience. Then Matt anxiously agrees and tries to move through the uncomfortable situation. He says, “I was. I’ve been a mascot for everything from sports teams on the ice to fast food joints as a giant cow.” Scoffing, Pat follows with disbelief, “A giant cow?” But then follows up asking, “Which one’s your favorite?” Matt politely says, “The original. I was a bulldog on the ice for a local hockey team, living the dream.” Then Pat replies, “Wow, a skating mascot.” However, he quickly moves on saying, “Well, it’s great to have you here.”

Pat Sajak Didn’t Connect

Perhaps it would have been more smooth if the Wheel Of Fortune network had included an earlier interaction between Pat Sajak and Matt. Although it didn’t air, Matt shared he was wearing socks with his daughters’ names which might have softened the blow. Either way, it seems Pat isn’t impressed with Matt’s mascot job choice. Some fans were quick to notice the strained interaction between Matt and Pat.

  • “I’ve never seen someone so over their job like Pat Sajak,” a viewer wrote with a crying emoji. “He’s just done pretending to care and make small talk with people he doesn’t really care about or won’t see again on Wheel Of Fortune.”

Wheel Of Fortune Oops

On Monday, there was also a big oops on Wheel Of Fortune. Pat Sajak announced that Tom had won a trip to South Dakota by solving one of the puzzles. Saying, “You know, this is a really great trip you haven’t been on, we’re taking you on a tour of South Dakota!” However, when the announcer, Jim Thorton, detailed the trip, totaling $7,398, the video showed pictures from Wyoming intermingled with South Dakota sights. Fans were quick to pick up on the mistake.

  • Wheel of Fortune needs to work on their geography! The trip giveaway for the prize puzzle was a trip to Western South Dakota, and the first image they showed was of Devil’s Tower in Wyoming! Lol,” someone mentions on X.
  • “Did they really just show Devil’s Tower when describing the tour of South Dakota? Time to break out a map, and apologize to the people of Wyoming,” another says.
  • “#wheeloffortune just gave away a trip to South Dakota and showed a picture of Devil’s Tower, which is in Wyoming!”
  • “This dude on Wheel of Fortune just won a vacation to South Dakota. LMAOOOO, I’d be heated.”
