‘Wheel Of Fortune’ Contestant Steals And Wins Big
During a recent episode of Wheel Of Fortune, one contestant steals the winnings with a big upset. Within the debacle, Pat Sajak steers the contestants through the maddening escapade. In the end, the contestant walks away with a big win.
Wheel Of Fortune Upset
On the Thursday, March 14, episode of Wheel Of Fortune, fans witnessed a huge upset. Max McGee from Lake Barrington, Illinois, Patricia Blackburn-Hunt from Miami, Florida, and New Rochelle, New York native Billie Kolinsky were competing. In the final puzzle of regular play, the three contestants were attempting to solve a five-word puzzle under the “Phrase” category. Then the board read, “_ / _ _ _ T _ N _ /_ _ / T_ _ / _ _ N _ _.” In a confident move, Patricia takes a stab at the answer guessing, “A Meeting of the Mind,” but unfortunately it was ruled as a wrong answer. Following the attempt, Billie perplexed chose a letter rather than make a guess. When Max’s turn arrived he was eager to steal the win, answering correctly, “A Meeting of the Minds.”
After congratulating Max McGee on his spot in the Wheel Of Fortune Bonus Round, Pat Sajak steered the show through the tricky waters. With the disheartening miss from Patricia Blackburn-Hunt, Pat Sajak tries to soften the blow. He says, “That was a terrific guess, and I am so sorry. One letter got you there.” Adding, “It would’ve been a great solve.” Then turning to Max, Pat says, “Obviously, Patricia left that ‘S’ off. But you picked it up, and you end up as the big winner.”
Max McGee Struggles Through The Bonus Round
Going into the Bonus Round feeling good, Max McGee elected the “Phrase” category again. Then he had before him a board that read, “_E / _ RE / _O_ _ N_ / _OR_ _RD.” Although Max was seemingly stumped on the Wheel Of Fortune puzzle, he didn’t give up. Just as the ten-second timer ran out, he snuck in his guess of, “We Are Moving Forward.” With the buzzer being so close, Pat Sajak referred to the judges to see if Max had beaten the clock. Giving Pat a thumbs up, he congratulated Max on his big winnings. Not only did Max win $32,910 cash in regular play but he collected a trip to the U.S. Virgin Islands as well. Additionally, Max took home a brand new Ford Mustang Convertible valued at $44,735 during the Bonus Round. Significantly, Max’s grand total of winnings was $77,645.
Some Wheel Of Fortune Fans Didn’t Approve
Although Max McGee spoke about being an avid viewer, not everyone thought he deserved the win. After the airing, some Wheel Of Fortune fans disapproved of how things unfolded during the show.
- “Max definitely STOLE it from Patricia! He COULDN’T have done it on his own! He would’ve thought the puzzle solve was an “E”! LMAOOOOO!”
- “2 minutes i’m shaking and i don’t think max should be in this bonus round of wheel of fortune.”
- “That guy was lucky the blonde woman didn’t guess ‘a meeting of the minds’ after that other woman messed it up.”
