Has the truth been exposed as to where Alana ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Thompson really lived for much of high school? It appeared she was always with her sister, Lauryn ‘Pumpkin’ Efird, and her family. When Mama June was struggling with her addiction, Lauryn ‘Pumpkin’ Efird stepped up and became Alana ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Thompson’s guardian. Eventually, she obtained custody of her younger sister, even getting child support from June. Now that Alana is off in Colorada with her boyfriend, it was a big deal because they claimed they had never lived together before. Now it seems that may not actually be the entire truth. There had been some rumblings that Pumpkin was letting the young couple shack up and that may have been the case.
According to a Reddit thread, it is now up in the air as to where Alana actually lived when she was in her last two years of high school. The OP wrote this:
- So June blurted out on live that Alana lived with her BF the last 2 years of school, so assuming since she was 16… why was pumpkin getting the child support and why were they pretending she lived with pumpkin on the show??? Then tonight pumpkin said that Alana was living with JESSICA the last two years of school? I truly wonder what the real truth is here.
Regardless of where Alana ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Thompson lived, this contradicts the whole narrative the show tried to push. So, what did followers have to say?
- I don’t like June, but she has no reason to lie about this. I think Alana was living on her own but it would have been bad PR if they shared that.

- Alana was living with Dralin. For show purposes she was “living with” Lauryn. I imagine Alana got the money June paid and used it to pay for rent and expenses when living with Dralin.

One follower made a valid point about Alana ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Thompson’s living situation which made a lot of sense. Keep in mind the home that Pumpkin and family film in is not their actual home. Therefore, one Redditor wrote this:
- I knew she moved in with Dralin when Pumpkin was pregnant with the twins, around her 16th birthday. June commented on a Facebook fan page. “Alana was living on her own & paying bill since right before she was 16.” June knew the whole time. They have all said Pumpkin & Alana split the child support money.
So, something has been going on behind the scenes that was not disclosed to the viewing audience. Unless viewers followed the family with a fine toothcomb on every social media forum, they would never have seen something like this. Is it fair to say that this is reality television but more and more appears to be staged? That is a tough call if fans are watching for entertainment purposes.

This whole family has been funded by Alana since she received her 1st check. How is anyone shocked that June blew thru the money? And as for college and the other things? If Alana finds a good life and walks away from TV everyone goes broke. June should be put in jail for stealing the money, point blank. All of her children should walk away from June and do something about picking up the pieces of childhoods destroyed by their mama June,and don’t let her have any part of it. She said she paid for her, Alana clothes, food, etc with the money. That’s her job as a mother, period. She is a narcissistic woman who preys on her children for attention. I pray to God that Alana takes her to court. That child has only had stability because of her sister Lauryn. God knows where she would be if not for her 🙏
