Rachel Nance Calls Out Racist Messages

The Women Tell All special is a chance for the contestants to confront each other over drama from their time in the Bachelor mansion. But Rachel Nance took the stage to confront something much more hurtful: the hateful DMs she received from viewers once the show started airing.

She told host Jesse Palmer that the messages included the “n-word” and other vile racist words. Rachel revealed that viewers attacked her culture after the hometown date episode featuring her parents. Both Jesse and Joey Graziadei apologized for the online bullying.

Why She’s ‘Proud’ To Represent Her Culture On The Bachelor

Despite the hateful messages, Rachel Nance doesn’t regret her time on the show at all. She told bachelornation.com that she was “proud” of representing her culture on the show. She noted that it was important for her to be someone other girls can look up to. “As a mixed girl, I didn’t get to see someone that looked like me on TV when I was growing up. It’s a dream come true that I get to be that person for someone else,” she said.

Rachel also shared that she received many positive messages, but sometimes the negativity outweighed them. One thing that stood out to viewers was Rachel’s hair. She said, “A lot of people messaged me after night one thanking me for wearing my hair curly. It’s so simple just to wear my natural hair down, but to realize that impacted somebody.”

Bachelor Nation Alums Show Support

Rachel Nance is one of several Bachelor Nation stars who spoke out against online hate. Olivia Lewis from Season 9 of Bachelor In Paradise is another one. Another BIP alum, Serene Russell, posted on social media in support of Rachel Nance.

Rachel told the Bachelor Nation blog that other alum from the franchise reached out privately. “Shout out to Charity Lawson. She is my girl for life,” Rachel told the outlet.

She also got support from another Rachel – Season 19 Bachelorette Rachel Recchia, who has been “so sweet” during the difficult times.

Now that her time with Joey Graziadei is over, what does the future hold for Rachel Nance? “I definitely will be going back to traditionally dating with just one man and one woman. I don’t want to do 32 people again,” she quipped. Glad to see she kept her humor even after so much negativity.
