Serene Russell Rallies Around Rachel Nance After Cyberbullying

Rachel Nance Details Racist Messages From Bachelor Nation Viewers
Reality TV stars are expected to have thick skin regarding what people are saying about them. But Rachel Nance shined the spotlight on just how vile online bullies can be. During this week’s Women Tell All special, she took the stage to talk about her time pursuing Joey Graziadei on Season 28 of The Bachelor.
Her time on the show was a mix of happy and heartbreak. Despite connecting with Joey, Rachel was sent home after the overnight dates. But the real heartbreak came from social media users sending her hateful messages once the show started airing in January.
Rachel Nance revealed that she had been on the receiving end of vile, racist messages, including some calling her the “n-word” and other racist insults.
Serene Russell Rallies Around Bachelor Star
Serene Russell knows what it is like to put it all out there on reality TV for viewers to see. She was a contestant on Clayton Echard‘s season of The Bachelor. Serene joined Season 8 of Bachelor In Paradise after striking out with Clayton.
She thought she found love with Brandon Jones and got engaged to him during the Season 8 finale. However, they broke up less than six months later amid accusations that he cheated on her.
Serene Russell took to her Instagram Story after the Women Tell All special to show her support for Rachel Nance. “It’s so sad because when you’re in this position you have a lot to process anyways — it’s hard [to] understand the magnitude of what the regular experience is like — let alone being racially and culturally attacked,” she wrote.
She added, “It’s insane that we are still dealing with this disproportionate prejudice in 2024.”
Serene rallied around Rachel, saying she was “so proud” of her for addressing the situation.
Jesse Palmer Address Cyberbullying Problem
Unfortunately, Rachel Nance isn’t the first Bachelor Nation contestant to speak out about racist messages from viewers. Bachelor In Paradise Season 9 contestant Olivia Lewis received similar hate.
Bachelor Nation host Jesse Palmer took a minute during the WTA to address the situation head-on. He said that the show loves “strong opinions” from viewers, but hateful messages aren’t okay.
When he asked which Season 28 contestants also received hate-filled DMs, nearly every woman raised her hand.
