Barbara Corcoran Makes Decisions Every Day

Being a boss isn’t always easy, but being an employee can be hard as well. And with Shark Tank, she is an employee despite her fortune. The controversial comment fired at Whoopi Goldberg about her jeans and making two of them from one, is just one example of how she thinks on her feet. But, she doesn’t always do that. Sometimes, she might lean on her own experiences or other successful people in business.

When it came to being fired, Barbara Corcoran might as well have taken a leaf from the late famous author, Steven Covey. His 7 Habits of Highly Effective People was great for tips on reacting to situations. Perhaps she borrowed from his one-liner: “It’s not what happens to us, it’s how we respond.” Then again, if he hadn’t written it, she probably would have

Shark Tank Star Fired Before She Began

Speaking with Ryan Roslansky, the CEO of LinkedIn, the businesswoman, consultant, and author described her reaction when she got the thumbs down. In fact, it came after landing her place on Shark Tank. Instead of raging and wailing for days, she thought about it before reacting. By now, viewers of the show have seen plenty of reactions before people think them through. So often, emotional responses end up with bad outcomes.

Barbara Corcoran described how someone offered her a place on ABC’s Shark Tank. After telling her friends, she went out and purchased a whole bunch of stuff for the exciting new job. However, she later got the news that she wasn’t getting the position after all. So, she felt “sorry” for herself a bit but didn’t dwell on it for too long. Instead, she went with strength, bypassing secretaries.

Reacting Intelligently Rather Than Emotionally

Responding directly to Mark, the investor, speaker, and television personality detailed many good things that happened to her after previous rejections. Additionally, she penned:

Dear Mark, I consider your rejection a lucky charm. Everything good happens to me after I get rejected. I expect to be on that plane on Tuesday. And I hope you let me compete for the seat.

Later in the interview, the Shark Tank star explained how she learned from her own successful employees that it doesn’t pay to sit and wallow in misery. So, she set aside her emotions, and presented her positives, and it worked.

    1. so do I. I live her openly calling it like she sees it. Barbara if I can assist you in any way let me know. I need to make some cash so I can buy me a used car.

  1. i love Barbara!! I love how she standsup for herself and other people. i dont know why you fired her but i like Barbara. I like all the judges on the panel, and they are alI different. My favorite is Mr Wonderful. I hope Barbara will be. back.

  2. Barbara seems to be one of the “ old school type “ players they have on the show. Nothing really seems to rattle the Young lady, try cutting her just a bit of slack !! Barbara will come out of what may seem an ole’ funk !, but she’ll come Roaring Back to take it All in to WIN EVERYTHING to Go !!! Yay

  3. The headline led me to believe she had just been fired. I’m not sure I would have read the article if I had known it was something that just happened.

  4. Barbara, as a judge, has the compassion & sensitivity that are so much repressed in todays women CEOs who culturally felt its advantageous to assume the mask that the male CEOS, the majority by their numbers, are wearing. Apart from the level of intelligence to judge, she has oceans of wisdom in her few words of delivery. Those were transpired thru her persona, her body language. Her gentleness, feminine touch, when declining a prospect, is the band-aid some of us audience needs, as all other judges all must sound so final & brutal. She’s the exception in the team that has the humane touch, in a mostly brutal program that determines destiny. Dont release her!
Ps Whoopi dispenses sharp-tongued meanness and get paid handsomely for it.
