Mama June Shannon’s Custody Fight For Kaitlyn Gets Court Date
Mama June fans feared that June Shannon might end up with custody of Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell’s daughter, Kaitlyn, and she won temporary custody of the child. Now that Michael Cardwell fights for her for custody, WeTV fans are glad a court date was set. However, they also feel angry. Why is that? Read on to find out.

Soon after the death of Anna Cardwell in December, Michael filed for custody of Kaitlyn, 11. Although he’s not her biological dad, Kaitlyn spent a lot of time with him and her half-sister, Kylee, 8, who is his daughter. Terrified WeTV fans thought June might want to separate the two children. And, that came to pass.
June Shannon said so many things about Michael as a father, even alleging he was abusive. However, Mama June fans take that with a pinch of salt. After all, Anna Cardwell allowed him to spend time with both of her children. In fact, he even paid school fees for Kaitlyn. But, June’s counterclaim alleged that he only did that because of non-payment of child support for Kylee, per The Ashley’s Reality Roundup.

Michael Cardwell Wants Kaitlyn – Court Date Set
Furious Mama June fans lambasted Anna Cardwell’s mom because she didn’t show much interest in Kaitlyn before. In fact, she doesn’t even seem to care that she abandoned her own daughter, Alana Thompson when she and Geno Doak went on a drug spree. Many people suspect that Kaitkyn is seen as a cash grab to introduce new content to the WeTV show.
The news arrived that June Shannon’s custody fight for Kaitlyn against Michael Cardwell finally got a court date. When a Mama June fan shared it on Reddit, the discussion revealed mixed feelings.
The court date has been announced
April 16th, a judge will hear both sides to determine the appropriate placement of Kaitlyn.
While it’s good news that another step forward came along, it annoyed supporters of Michael that it is so far away. Also, WeTV viewers fervently hope that he wins because June Shannon and Justin Stroud don’t seem to be the best parents in the world.
- I cannot believe they set it out so far….like let’s just take our time getting around to the best interest of children. 🙄
- It’s sad that it means she will be there for at least several months. She deserves security and a safe environment where she’s healing! She’s been through hell and then is stuck living with them!
- More time for them to be talking in her ear as well – who knows what they say to her about Michael etc.
- June doesn’t have ANY business “raising” ANYMORE KIDS! She failed her own in so many ways.
