He Felt As Though He Ruined The Holidays

When he returned to the talk show in January, he opened up about his hospitalizations. He knew his medical issues were not a secret. He, however, admits he didn’t realize that he very nearly died when it happened. Al Roker added that his medical emergency was a real eye-opener for him. He forgot how important Thanksgiving and Christmas were until he nearly missed them both.

The Today Show personality added at the time that he also felt really bad. From his point of view, he felt like he ruined Thanksgiving for a lot of people, including his family. The way he felt actually made it that much more important for him to celebrate Christmas to the fullest with his family.

I felt, in a sense, badly because I ruined Thanksgiving for the family and I was not going to let that happen for Christmas. It was important to me and gave me something to push for. And I made Christmas dinner.”
