Counting On alum Jill Duggar Dillard broke hearts when TLC fans read her book, Counting The Cost. In it, she detailed many unhappy aspects of being raised by Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar. However, now that her book looks set to make her money, she seems to be flip-flopping about her mother. But, is she actually doing that? Read on to find out what’s happening.

Counting On Jill Duggar Experienced An Abnormal Childhood

In her book, Derick Dillard’s wife described some awful things that happened in her childhood. For example, she mentioned how things were so frugal, that when TLC paid for them to eat out, they felt so grateful. Conditioned to be grateful, it seemed like a sin to question anything. Additionally, her parents’ choice to film impacted the kid’s education.

Jill Duggar claimed that things became very bad between herself and her dad, Jim Bob Duggar. Additionally, she claimed that her mom and dad both think she’s a bad influence on the other kids. By being a bad influence, she meant wearing pants and sporting a nose ring. Still, more than once, despite criticizing her upbringing under Bill Gothard’s rules from the IBLP, she said that she still loves her mom and dad.

Jill Duggar Remembers Her Mom Michelle With Affection

TLC fans recently saw a social media post about how Derick’s wife likes to let her youngest son, Freddy help her in the kitchen. In her caption, she wrote a long tale of how much she treasures the childhood memories of Michelle. In fact, if you had read the book, you might be surprised because she seems to flip-flop about her upbringing.

Jill Duggar partly wrote:

I love letting my kids help in the kitchen, even if it takes a bit longer. 💙My mom was great at letting us kids help her in the kitchen and I think that’s part of why I still love being in the kitchen today! 🥰🌿

Whilst Starcasm noted that it seems like a contradiction from Counting The Cost, that’s not necessarily what Counting On fans are seeing. In fact, speaking with ET in September, Jill Duggar Dillard said that she looks back and understands why her mother said and did certain things because of the position she was in. She still sees her mom, but not her dad so much. However, when they meet they keep things civil. After all, she loves them, but some things hurt her deeply.

What are your thoughts about Jill Duggar Dillard seeming to contradict herself about her mom, Michelle? Is she flip-flopping, or can you understand that despite her abnormal childhood, she can still have some sweet memories of growing up? After all, she didn’t ever say that she hated her mom.
