The Masked Singer was back this week and the show ended with a defending winner going home and his two competitors both moving on in the competition. One of these new singers was Mantis, and the clue package has us with strong thoughts on their identity.

Here is a look at what went down this week on The Masked Singer and who we think Mantis is.

Who is Mantis on The Masked Singer?

Last week, The Masked Singer ended with Doll winning the week and moving on to the next round. At the time, all the clues led us to believe that the man under the mask was Twister Sister frontman, Dee Snider. This week would see if that guess was true.

It was Warner Bros. week on the show and this meant two things. First, it meant that all the songs would be from classic Warner Bros. movies. Second, Fox promised that all the singers have been in Warner Bros. movies in one way or another. Dee Snider was in Pee Wee’s Big Adventure.

In the first round, Doll sang “Jailhouse Rock” by Elvis Presley (from last year’s movie, Elvis). Dandelion sang “Over the Rainbow” by Judy Garland (from The Wizard of Oz). Mantis sang “Old Time Rock & Roll” by Bob Seger (from Risky Business). After that round, Doll got the least votes and he unmasked as – Dee Snider.

That then led to the Battle Royale. Mantis and Dandelion teamed up to wing “(I’ve Got) a Golden Ticket” from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. After that performance, the people voted and chose to move Dandelion on to the next round.

This means Mantis will head to a special week this season where he will compete against the other Ding Dong Keep it On winners. That would be Medusa (who we think is Bishop Briggs) and Gargoyle (who we think is Keenan Allen).

What are the Mantis clues on The Masked Singer?

That leads to the clues for Mantis and trying to figure out who the singer is. The judges’ guesses were all over the place. Nicole Scherzinger thought it was Keanu Reeves. Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg thought it was Kevin Bacon. Robin Thicke guessed Dennis Quaid. As always, Ken Jeong forgot what show he was on and guessed Bruce Springsteen.

Of course, one clue is that he was involved in the past with a Warner Bros. movie. As for his clue package, there was a shot of him standing in front of motorcycles. He was also called a “gentlemantis.” He answered a phone and said, “I’m in” before scaling a building, breaking windows on his way up.

Mantis then hung from a rope from a helicopter. The narrator said he has a “brooding persona” but is also really good at comedy. More so, Mantis also “almost won an Emmy.” He also carried an acoustic guitar. He was reading a book called Lord of the Fly while the narrator said fans know him as a singer, a published author, and someone who has done Shakespeare (Hamlet?). Music has also followed Mantis from Broadway to the movies.

The Clues Go On

There is also Mantis at a poker gang and he has brown cowboy boots that he was hiding a card in. Then, the warehouse where he was playing poker blows up. Finally, there were black sunglasses and a note that read “Representing a legend was instrumental to my success. And it was an honor to do so.”

We believe that Jenny is right and Mantis is Kevin Bacon. The actor started off his career on stage and made his Broadway debut in Slab Boys alongside Sean Penn and Val Kilmer.

He said that music followed him to the movies, and he did appear in Footloose, which saw him star in the beloved musical classic. Kevin is also a singer and has his own band called the Old 97’s. He even performed with his band in The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. Bacon also appeared in JFK, a Warner Bros. movie.

Bacon also had a Primetime Emmy Awards nomination for Taking Chance.
