Monster: The Jeffery Dahmer Story is one of the most successful seasons of TV to ever hit Netflix. The show swept all the public conversation in late 2022 with its look into the notorious serial killer and the system that allowed him to go as far as he did. Netflix has given confirmation that there’s a renewal for two more seasons that are currently on the way. That may be confusing to anyone who saw Dahmer die via workout equipment at the end of the first season. But these upcoming seasons may not be quite what people are expecting.
More Dahmer?
No, Evan Peters as Jeffery Dahmer will not be making an appearance in the upcoming Season 2. That’s because this isn’t actually a Jeffery Dahmer show. It’s an anthology with the title Monster, and each season will cover a different serial killer. So Season 1 was about The Jeffery Dahmer Story. And whose story is going to be the focus of Season 2? That’s the question on many people’s minds right now.
There is no confirmation about the subject matter of Monster Season 2 yet. Creator Ryan Murphy will still be making both of these upcoming seasons, but he hasn’t given any comment about where the show is going. Evan Peters is unlikely to return. There has been speculation and hopes that he may come back as a different character as he does in the other Murphy-led show American Horror Story. But, Peters was vocal about the filming of The Jeffery Dahmer Story taking its toll on his mental health. In one interview, he said he’s going to be taking “a little break from darker roles”.
The Monster Anthology
There is no shortage of serial killers that the show could potentially cover in its future seasons. Season 1 had a cameo of John Wayne Gacy. Gacy was infamously a clown-for-hire who murdered more than 30 young men, all between the ages of 14 to 21. It is unknown and thought of as unlikely by experts that Gacy ever actually wore his clown suit while killing anyone, though. The show depicts John as wearing this suit during a murder in spite of this.
Other serial killers that Monster could potentially feature include Ted Bundy, Ed Gein, or even possibly a European serial killer like Harold Shipman of the United Kingdom.
There is no official release date or release window for Monster Season 2 as of right now. More than likely, there will be more details coming out before the end of 2023.
