‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 Not Mentioned In DC Lineup?
Peacemaker Season 2 was something fans have been looking forward to since the first season ended. However, when James Gunn announced the upcoming “first chapter” of the new DC Comics movies/streaming world, he never mentioned this second season.
There is some good news, though, for fans of the John Cena HBO Max series.
Will there be a Peacemaker Season 2?
While James Gunn did not mention Peacemaker Season 2 in his announcement, the show was not canceled. Gunn had said that the series was delayed, though. This is because he has been working hard on building the new plans for DC movies and streaming and hasn’t had time to work on the new series.
Gunn has worked over the last few months with Peter Safran to build the new plans for the DC movies and streaming worlds of the new lineup. This includes a new take on Superman, a Batman movie that introduces his son Damian, a series about DC monsters called the Creature Commandos, and a movie based on the obscure team, The Authority.
James Gunn also wrote the scripts for the upcoming HBO Max series Creature Commandos and is possibly going to write and direct the Superman movie. This left no time for Peacemaker Season 2. However, this doesn’t mean the second season isn’t coming.
Gunn announced that there would be a new HBO Max series called Waller. This will see Viola Davis return to her role as Amanda Waller, who fans met in both Suicide Squad movies and Peacemaker. This series will be a spin-off and it will include the characters from Peacemaker. Gunn also said that it will take place between Peacemaker Season 1 and Season 2.
What else is coming in the DC Universe?
On top of Waller and Gunn’s scripted Creature Commandos, there is a huge lineup of movies and streaming series coming. Gunn will write and possibly direct a new Superman movie. Henry Cavill will not be back as Superman and this will be a fresh take. It will show a Superman who believes in kindness in a world that has grown cruel. It sounds like a throwback to Christopher Reeve’s Superman.
The new Batman movie will see Bruce Wayne meet his son Damian, who he never knew existed. This is based on the comic book story where Damian was raised by the League of Assassins and Batman has to rehabilitate his son. The Batman 2 is also coming with Robert Pattinson, but it will take place outside the DCU continuity (Elseworlds). Joker 2 is also in Elseworlds.
Gunn also announced an HBO Max series taking place on Wonder Woman’s home island compared to Game of Thrones. A live-action Green Lantern series is coming to HBO Max called Lanterns.
There will also be movies based on the lesser-known hero Booster Gold, the anti-hero team The Authority, and the monster movie Swamp Thing.
