Jersey Shore star Vinny Guadagnino hasn’t performed remarkably well in the competition so far. He and his partner Koko Iwasaki have been hovering around the bottom of the leaderboard each week this season. In a previous interview, Vinny even said he thought the judges underscored him and haven’t given him a real chance so far. However, things started to turn around on Disney+ Night.

The judges immediately saw how hard Vinny and Koko worked on their Luca-themed Samba this week. After performing, they finally brought their score up to a 29/40. That’s been their best routine by far in the whole competition.

So what was their secret? Vinny admits he had a few good luck charms on his side.

Vinny Guadagnino got a little help from his friends

This year, Dancing With The Stars contestants are allowed to invite loved ones back into the ballroom to watch the show. The live audience went away during the pandemic, but the production team is slowly bringing it back.

During Disney+ Night, Vinny Guadagnino was so happy that two of his Jersey Shore castmates were able to come visit. Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino and DJ Pauly D dropped by to cheer on their friend.

“I mean, just having them there, having my boys there — we were all laughing backstage,” Vinny happily told Page Six after the night came to an end. “We’re MVP, baby! We’re a group and they’re here to support me.”

“I want them here every week because [Vinny] did great today!” Koko chimed in. “I’m like, ‘Maybe Pauly and Mike are good luck charms.’ I’m here for it.”

And it definitely seemed that way! Viewers at home also noticed that Vinny performed much better when he had his friends around to support him. Maybe they’ll come back next week too.

The pair sticks around for another week

Before Disney+ Night began, many fans thought Vinny and Koko might go home. The judges had been really harsh with them — some fans at home even thought they were bullying Vinny.

However, the pair once again escaped the bottom two. Trevor Donovan and Emma Slater were at the bottom alongside Sam Champion and Cheryl Burke. The judges ultimately chose to save Trevor and Emma.

Now, the remaining couples are hard at work piecing together their routines for next week. The competition this year is really fierce, so Vinny and Koko will need to keep improving if they want to stick around for another week.

Check back to see another new episode of Dancing With The Stars Season 31 this Monday night. The live stream starts at 8 PM eastern time and 5 PM pacific, so plan ahead and don’t miss out!
