Wait, Did Val Chmerkovskiy Decide To Return To ‘DWTS’ This Fall?
At the end of Dancing With The Stars Season 30, Val Chmerkovskiy said he was probably done competing. He would keep dancing, but said he felt like his time on DWTS was finally over.
Of course, nothing is ever set in stone and things can change. ABC announced they were moving DWTS to Disney+ this fall to make room for other programming on Monday nights. It appears that Val started reconsidering his options after this announcement came out.
So will Val Chmerkovskiy come back to the ballroom when Season 31 debuts on Disney+? Keep reading to see what his wife Jenna Johnson had to say.
Val Chmerkovskiy might consider his retirement plans now
In previous interviews, Jenna Johnson said that she would personally be happy to do another season of Dancing With The Stars. However, Val Chmerkovskiy was seriously thinking of calling it quits last fall.
So what does the situation look like now?
“Val is definitely excited to come back for another season and I think that he’s in the best shape of his life right now,” Jenna said in a recent interview. “I’m not sure what happened to him [this year], but he is snatched.”
However, the decision may not quite be up to Val. Jenna confirmed in the interview that the pro dancers are only asked to come back just a few weeks before the new season starts. It will probably be at least August until fans know more about who will return.
But Val Chmerkovskiy definitely has a pretty massive fanbase. They would love to see him step back in the ballroom this fall.
But what’s really motivating his change of heart?
Even Val’s wife Jenna Johnson isn’t sure what motivated him this summer. But based on a few things, fans can make some educated guesses.
Val and his brother Maks are both Ukrainian. When the Russian invasion started, they both looked for ways to help the Ukrainian people. However, things didn’t stop there. Val actually called out his DWTS castmates for their silence on the issue and said he would be sure to call them out on the dance floor in the future.
“It’s very revealing … that you aren’t Russian or Ukrainian or Belarusian. You aren’t the mighty Eastern Europeans I always were proud to be identified with because of your principles and work ethic,” Val called his coworkers out on Instagram. “Your toughness alongside your intellect and price. To all my Russian speaking friends that are quietly continuing to stay in your lane ignoring what’s happening, you aren’t any of the above, you are spineless little b******. And I will remind you of that next time we line up on that dance floor.”
Is it possible he’s looking for revenge? Everyone will just have to wait and see what happens next.
