The eldest of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s 19 kids was arrested in the spring of 2021. He later went to trial in November of 2021. He was found guilty of both receiving and possessing child pornography in December. He’s facing up to 20 years behind bars, plus he will have fines to pay.
Josh Duggar’s defense has asked for an acquittal or a new trial, but those requests have been denied by the judge.
Ahead of his sentencing, several members of the Duggar family, as well as friends, submitted letters to the judge in hopes of a lighter sentence. In these letters, they claimed that Josh is a “wonderful father and husband.”
Meanwhile, cousin Amy King called for a harsh sentence and said he is a “monster.”
Previously, the prosecution recommended a 240-month sentence. Josh’s defense, however, asked for a five-year sentence.
