He was later released on conditions and lived with a family friend until his trial. Throughout this time, he has maintained his innocence. Though his family is laying low, sources claim that his wife, Anna Duggar, believes he’s innocent as well.

Josh Duggar’s trial lasted from November 30 through December 9 when he was found guilty.

Now, with his sentencing right around the corner, both the defense and prosecution have submitted sentencing memorandums.

In the memorandum, Josh’s defense refers to him as a “wonderful father and husband.” The defense believes that, for this reason, the Duggar son should serve five years behind bars. They claim that this is “sufficient, but not greater than necessary.”

The defense also states that Josh has “lived an admirable life while navigating unique challenges associated with being in the public spotlight since childhood.”

Josh Duggar’s attorneys, Travis Story and Justin Gelfand note, “Duggar continues to have so much good to offer the world. We ask that this Court give him that opportunity.”

Meanwhile, in the prosecution’s memorandum, they are requesting a 20-year sentence. The memo notes:

“He went through the effort to download, install, and password protect this partition — all to avoid detection. Duggar, perhaps more than any other individual presented to this Court, was willing to go through exhaustive efforts to obtain CSAM without detection. Duggar’s criminal activity was also deliberate and precise.”
