Nikki DeLoach Shares Update On Hallmark’s ‘Curious Caterer’
Hallmark has been reevaluating their mysteries over the past year. However, they did recently premiere a brand new Signature Mystery Series called Curious Caterer. This stars Andrew Walker and Nikki DeLoach.
What is the latest status of this series? When should Sleuthers expect another mystery soon?
Was Hallmark’s Curious Caterer A Success?
Back on April 10, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries premiered the highly anticipated mystery, Curious Caterer: Dying For Chocolate. This reunited Nikki DeLoach and Andrew Walker, who has co-starred in several previous Hallmark movies. This was their very first mystery.
Moreover, after a lot of interviews and promotion, the major consensus between Sleuthers and the cornucopia of Hallmark-focused vlogs and podcasts was that this was a winner. Everyone wants more.
In addition, ShowBuzzDaily reported that 1.165 viewers turned in to see the new mystery. In comparison, just one week before, ShowBuzzDaily reported that Tyler Hynes and Autumn Reeser’s highly anticipated movie, Always Amore, recorded 1.073 viewers.
Therefore, it is clear that the Curious Caterer was a success! So, when is the next mystery coming out?
What Did Nikki DeLoach Say About The Future Of Curious Caterer?
Recently, Nikki DeLoach went to Instagram to thank fans and update them on the future of the series. She also included an adorable video with behind-the-scenes clips.
Thank you all so much for tuning in to “The Curious Caterer: Dying for Chocolate.” From start to finish, it was such a joy to work on this film. And without you, these movies wouldn’t exist. I hope that @awalkk35 and I will be able to bring you more adventures with Goldy and Tom. Until then, all my love and gratitude for your continued support and love. Thank you!!
So, it sounds like they are not sure what is next with the series. Hallmark has not said anything about more movies.
Hallmark Movies & Mysteries 2022 Mystery Count
So far in 2022, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries has released a grand total of three mysteries. That includes any movies that should come out through the month of June, and likely July, which is traditionally Christmas in July.
There were two new Signature Mysteries, Cut, Color, Murder, which star Ryan McPartlin, and Julie Gonzalo. The second new Signature Mystery series is Curious Caterer, starring Nikki DeLoach and Andrew Walker.
Lastly, HMM aired the final Aurora Teagarden. For those who were still shocked that Christmas Queen Candace Cameron Bure left Hallmark for GAC, they may have missed the news that HMM has no plans to make any more of the mystery series.
Instead of that three-mystery a year steady Aurora job, Niall Matter is now time traveling. He is starring in the very intriguing HMM drama, Rip In Time, portraying Rip Van Winkle Jr., along with Torrey DeVitto.
While, it seems that Sleuthers are trying to solve the mystery of what happened to all the Hallmark mysteries, at least they have this new Niall movie to look forward to.
However, for now, everyone is waiting for Hallmark to make some decisions and film some mysteries. The window of time to do this is very slim.
Miracles of Christmas, which airs on HMM, starts on the weekend of October 21, 2022. That means the network has to scramble to make some mysteries between now and mid-August.
Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Featuring Dramas
Although Hallmark has not said anything to Nikki and Andrew about the future of the Curious Caterer, they have demonstrated what they are focused on dramas. They do not seem to be developing or reviving mysteries.
This year has already been rife with tearjerkers, including the aforementioned Always Amore, excellent drama, North To Home, and the exceptional film, The Presence Of Love.
They have also announced the production of Unthinkably Good Things, starring award-winning actress Karen Pittman, under the new Mahogany label.
It seems that they are unable to decide on the future of mysteries on HMM. Besides Aurora Teagarden, they have axed several mystery series, Matchmaker Mysteries, Picture Perfect Mysteries, Haley Dean Mysteries, and likely the Gourmet Detective, leaving the rest in limbo.
However, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries did release a Preview and a Sneak Peek video for 14 Love Letters, which will premiere on July 31. Although the storyline is a romance, there is a mystery component to this movie.
The heroine of this story gets 14 historic love letters sent to her by a secret admirer. She needs to find that secret admirer. Even a rusty Sleuther will find that this mystery is easily solved by looking at the two video clips.
Therefore, although this movie looks absolutely delightful, it does not appear that this movie will become a Signature Mystery Movie.
Sleuthers, what do you think of Nikki’s post? Would you like to see another Curious Caterer mystery?

Please bring Curious Caterer mystery back as a full time series. Thank you
Please bring back curious caterer mysteries as a series… it was great! I am so tired of the regular formulaic sickeningly sweet romance movies on your sister Channel.
Don’t you know that the cozy mystery style is very hot right now? You need to be beefing up your mystery movies. Women want more intelligence and thought put in your efforts!
We want something that’s entertaining to watch and sure has an attraction factor to it like the curious caterer mysteries does but the main trust of the show is that it’s a MYSTERY.
Loved Aurora Teagarden too bad she’s leaving your network.
Please do more Curious Caterer movies.
Please bring back your mysteries! Hallmark channel is for love stories, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries is for mysteries, isn’t it? I mean it isn’t called Hallmark 2.
I’m hoping the Cut & Color mysteries will come back. They ended it with a question. Also liked the Curious Caterer.
Curious Caterer was a great movie both actors great together. Hope you do more
I have taped the CURIUOS CATERER, but haven’t watched.yet I know I will love it, because I really like Andrew & Nikki. I’m looking forward to more movies.in the series!!!
I have read and loved all of Diane Mott Davidson’s Goldie books. I hope Hallmark keeps making them with this wonderful cast.
I absolutely love the back-and-forth of the “Tom and Goldy” relationship development. The comic relief presented in the character of Mason is delightful, not overdone. The storylines, so far, have kept me guessing until the end. I want oodles more of these Curious Caterer movies!
One bad apple was not up to the kind of mystery that alison sweeney does. the actor that replaced camerson mathison does not have the chemistry mathison and sweeney. you should
reconsidering sweeney’s love interest, someone that has the chemistry as mathison.
