What The Duggar Family Really Does For A Living
Duggar fans often wonder how the adult kids pay their bills and provide for their growing families. For years, Jim Bob and Michelle’s large brood relied on TLC. Thanks to their multiple specials and shows, including 19 Kids & Counting, Counting On, and others, they made a decent amount of money.
But now, all of their shows have been canceled. Their most recent show, Counting On, was canceled last summer after Josh Duggar’s child pornography arrest.
It’s also worth noting that the kids don’t attend college, though some of them have taken college courses online. This limits some of the careers they could choose to pursue.
So, what are the Duggars doing to make a living and pay their bills these days?
Where does the Duggar family work?
The former TLC stars have a variety of different jobs. They stick to traditional gender roles, so typically, the women stay home with the children while the men work. Here’s a list of the Duggar kids’ jobs:
- Jim Bob and Michelle are both licensed real estate agents.
- Josh was a car salesman but is now behind bars.
- Jana may be renovating homes with her brothers. She recently made six figures after selling a property. She has an LLC but doesn’t seem to be doing anything with it yet.
- John-David is a pilot and constable. His wife, Abbie, was a nurse before they got married.
- Jill Dillard’s husband, Derick, recently passed the bar exam, so fans assume he will pursue a job as a lawyer soon.
- Jessa Seewald’s husband, Ben, is a pastor.
- Jinger Vuolo’s husband, Jeremy, is attending the Master’s Seminary in Los Angeles, California, and plans to be a pastor.
- Joseph is a real estate agent.
- Josiah’s job is unknown, but he could be a car salesman or sell real estate like his family.
- Joy-Anna Forsyth’s husband, Austin, works in construction.
- Jedidiah has a real estate business, according to The Sun.
- Jeremiah’s Instagram bio notes that he’s a flight instructor and a contractor.
- Jason is a general contractor and also owns a construction business, according to the Duggar family.
- James has shared videos of himself using heavy equipment, but it’s unclear exactly what his job is.
- Justin appears to be flipping houses in Texas.
There are still several younger Duggar kids at home who don’t have jobs yet.
Some of Jim Bob & Michelle’s kids also use social media to make an income.
After Counting On was canceled, several of Jim Bob Duggar’s kids began using YouTube to connect with fans. And they can also make money on YouTube, thanks to ads. Jessa Seewald shares videos a couple of times per month. Joy-Anna Forsyth also makes YouTube videos but posts less frequently than Jessa.
Jedidiah and Katey recently launched their YouTube channel. It’s possible that more family members will do something similar in the future. Fans are hopeful that Jinger and Jeremy Vuolo will create a YouTube channel.
Social media is another way that several of the Duggar women make money. They can work with companies and make money by promoting their products. Even if they don’t make a ton of money from these partnerships, it may be enough to help supplement their income.
