The series was praised for its accuracy, storytelling, and vivid cinematography. However, it wasn’t devoid of backlash and controversies as well. Viewers called out the series for its apparent lack of respect for the victims’ families. Moreover, several families of the victims also reported that they were never contacted about the show and claimed they were left utterly blindsided by it.
Moreover, Netflix faced severe criticism from the LGBTQ+ community for labeling the series as an LGBTQ show. However, Ryan Murphy wasn’t happy about the backlash because the cannibalistic killer, Dahmer, was part of that community.
