Erica Bader, 24, was found dead in the woods in late October. Her family claimed that she was sexually assaulted and murdered. The police believe she was killed in another location before being dumped in the woods.

Upon the young woman’s death, her family found out the shocking truth that she was pregnant. “They killed her while she was pregnant. We didn’t know she was pregnant at first, until we found out,” the victim’s aunt, Stephanie Bender, told the local news, per Law & Crime.

Murder Victim Homeless, Living With Strangers

Erica Bader’s stepmother, Crystal Smith, told the news that her stepdaughter had recently been homeless. She moved in with Brittney Terpening, 34, somewhat recently. “They’re just random people. They were like total strangers to her,” Erica Bader’s stepmother said about the people charged with her murder.

The family claims Erica Bader was physically abused while living at the home. “She tried to run away one time, she didn’t get far. They dragged her in, pulled her in that house and held her hostage, basically,” her stepmother claimed.

When the police searched the home in November, they found a disturbing scene. Over 50 animals, including 46 cats and four dogs, were removed from the home.

“These animals didn’t have food and water, they have apparently been fed but the place is strewn with feces, and it reeks of ammonia, tough situation,” Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals president Wayne Kezirian said about the “terrible” condition of the animals.

Eight Charged In Shocking Case

Six people were arrested in November after the discovery of Erica Bader’s body. Initially, they were only charged with failing to report a death. The Rhode Island woman’s roommate, Brittney Terpening, was also charged with felony domestic assault.

Murder, kidnapping, and conspiracy were later added to the charges five of the suspects. Additionally, two more were arrested recently in connection with the alleged murder. Joanne Miller, 26, and Cheryl Blakely, 36, face charges of kidnapping and conspiracy.

The police didn’t reveal how the victim was murdered. However, they clearly believe Erica Bader was killed by her former roommate and others. Stay tuned for more details on this shocking case.
