HGTV’s Erin Napier Shares ‘Revolting’ Reason She Was Attacked
Erin Napier of Home Town fame recently opened up about being attacked on social media. In a follow-up, the HGTV star shared disturbing comments she recently received online. The whole story was also connected to a current event.
HGTV Star Erin Napier Discussed Recent News During An Instagram Story
Erin and her husband Ben are known to audiences through their HGTV series, Home Town. On the show, which premiered back in 2016, the couple helps to restore historic homes in Laurel, Mississippi.
In addition, fans have also seen Home Town become a franchise with various spin-offs. This includes Home Town Takeover, which came out in 2021.

Recently, Erin shared her response to a tragic news story recently making headlines: the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk. The Turning Point USA co-founder was shot at on September 10, 2025, while speaking at Utah Valley University. He was 31 at the time of his passing.
Napier discussed what had happened during an Instagram Story the day following Kirk’s death. In a message, the HGTV star wrote, “Only the demonized celebrate death.”

According to Parade, Napier took to social media following this to address responses she got for the post. She shared, “I am revolted by some of the comments in my DMs about the last slide.” She continued, “Unfollow me, immediately, if you could be one of those comments. Christ, have mercy on us all.”

In one comment shared through a screenshot, a commenter wrote, “Just wanted to let you know why I am unfollowing you. It’s not what you said about Charlie Kirk but how in your story support his free speech, but not for the ones who disagree with you.” The commenter later added, “I am sorry you seem so angry over all this. May you find peace”
Included in the screenshot was Erin’s response, which read, “They definitely have a right to free speech. I was helping them spread their message more freely. Goodbye!”

Another person reportedly wrote that they would throw out Erin’s products, in addition to unfollowing her. As noted by Us Weekly, they wrote, “Will no longer watch their show, putting her book and candles in the trash and removing all of them from social media feeds. Support of intolerance and hate has no place in my life.” Erin wrote in response, “Because I will not celebrate murder.”

Another commenter also talked about Erin’s decision to homeschool her children, saying that it would prevent a similar tragedy from happening to them. They continued, “This guy was ALL FOR IT. He died for what he believed in. God have mercy on his soul because I do not.” Erin responded, “You know nothing about why I am homeschooling my children, you sick goblin.”
Since the news of Kirk’s death has come out, various figures in the media have discussed the story. As previously reported, this has included figures ranging from soap opera actors, reality show alumni, and President Donald Trump.
