‘The View’ Whoopi Goldberg Gets Into Tense Argument About Her Figure
Viewers have seen all sorts of conversations take place on The View. Whether or not the co-hosts agree on a subject, things can easily get very awkward during a chat, and not just with the show’s “hot topics.” Whoopi Goldberg recently found herself the subject of such a conversation during an interview with a recent guest.
Whoopi Goldberg Got Personal During A Recent Conversation With A Guest On The View
Goldberg has a prolific career as an actress and comedian, appearing in films including Sister Act, Ghost, and The Lion King. To many, she is also known as a co-host on The View, officially joining the show in 2007.
Over the years, fans have seen Goldberg get into a number of discussions with her co-hosts. Currently, Goldberg sits on the panel alongside Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, Alyssa Farah Griffin, and Ana Navarro.
During a recent episode of the show, the co-hosts were interviewing guest Mindy Kaling, who addressed her own struggles with her weight over the years. The Office star shared, “I think we all think it’s weird when public figures lose weight, because we want this perfectly consistent narrative of their lives.”
“But I have wanted to lose weight since I was 12 years old. I’ve been writing jokes about diet and all body image for 20 years now, so when people are surprised and are shocked that I wanted to lose weight, I’m like, ‘Wait, how is this news?’ This has been part of my personality since the Clinton administration.”
Joy Behar Seemed To Be In Disbelief About Her Co-Host’s Share
Goldberg chimed in on the conversation, noting a point when she weighed around 300 pounds. Behar interrupted her, saying, “No, you did not.”
Goldberg spoke otherwise, noting, “Yes, I did, Joy, you can’t say…” When Behar interrupted again in disbelief, Goldberg, appearing to get irritated, replied, “Yes, I did! I did.”
Behar then asked for a frame of reference, wondering if this was before she met her current co-host. Goldberg noted that this was around 2022, adding, “I was 279, and I looked like five people.”
Behar still didn’t believe the story, noting that Goldberg didn’t appear to have loose skin. Goldberg responded to this, saying, “It’s hanging, you just can’t see it,” causing the audience to give a quick laugh. Ultimately, the Sister Act star turned her attention back to Kaling, noting, “But my point is, that people get mad at you [Kaling] because you did something they want to do, but they don’t have the impetus yet, they don’t have the… they don’t know how to get there.”
