Whether the disapproval was from missing the conclusion of Jeopardy! or not wanting to hear from the current president, fans didn’t mince words.

Some Viewers Reported On Ken Jennings’ Hosting

However, some Jeopardy! fans were able to get their hands on the ending of the show to determine that Isaac Hirsch captured another win. As he took on competitors, Liz McKenna and Robert Voyles, he stole away his seventh-day winning streak. Early in the game, Isaac had $6,400 including a a Daily Double, while Robert had $1,000, and Liz was at $0. Later during the Double Jeopardy!, Liz grabbed the remaining Daily Doubles. She added $2,000 on one but then lost it on the next one. By the end of the game, Isaac had accumulated $18,400, Robert had $5,800, and Liz ended at $1,200.

Since some people didn’t get the opportunity to see Ken Jennings announce the Final Jeopardy category, other fans helped report what happened. It was “Countries of the World.” Ken read, “Until 1991 this country, named for a river, had a capital whose name means ‘lakes’ in Portuguese.” Isaac lands the answer correctly, with “Nigeria.” But his competitors miss the answer. Then, Isaac added $1,600. At the end of the game, he walked away with $20,000, and a seven-day running total of $161,388.

Some Fans Notice A Different Trend

While Jeopardy! fans are angry about Ken Jennings’ interruption they notice another more pleasant trend.

  • On Reddit, one fan notes that this could be a good sign after seeing the category. “COUNTRIES OF THE WORLD’s last five FJ appearances were today, the ToC, Stephen Webb’s run, Ray Lalonde’s run, and Cris Pannullo’s run!”
  • Another adds, “I know it’s completely random, but it now feels like a running joke to throw COUNTRIES OF THE WORLD in as an FJ! category whenever a super champion is playing.”
  • “I’ve always wondered why the category is called COUNTRIES OF THE WORLD instead of just COUNTRIES. I think we can assume they’re part of the world without being told that.”
  • “So you won’t expect a country not of this world.”
  • Someone else jokes, “Jeopardy is ahead of its time; soon we will have additional countries on other planets; they’re just covering the bases….very smart for the reruns in 2087.”
