This season on Family Crisis, Alana ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Thompson learned that her mother stole almost all of her money. She needed help paying for her college tuition because her scholarship only covered half of a year. Unfortunately, what she learned was that she was just left with $33K to her name and felt completely betrayed by Mama June. Her sister, Lauryn ‘Pumpkin’ Efird also claimed that she was shocked by what was left but also maintained she had put money aside since she had custody of Alana. Fans of the show are not so sure Pumpkin is being transparent.
They believe she took advantage of her sister’s fame as much as anyone else for the cash and to keep her name out there. A Reddit thread was started to chat about how Pumpkin is just as bad as Mama June:
- Pumpkin is just as bad as June, she just does it by being the good guy. June does people dirty right out in the open and lies about it because she’s delulu. Pumpkin on the other hand has got everybody fooled thinking she’s this hardworking momma doing her best by her sister.

They are all bums, but I prefer June over Pumpkin if I had to choose. Pumpkin may be the most rude one in the whole bunch.
Pumpkin Did Not Raise Alana
The one thing that Redditors brought up was how it had recently come out that Lauryn ‘Pumpkin’ Efird did not really raise Alana ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Thompson.
- You took the words out my mouth. Also Pumpkin uses the show to broadcast this false narrative that she’s helped raise Alana, when we all know she’s been on her own (living with her boyfriend) since she was roughly 15/16
This came out in a TikTok where it was alleged Alana lived with her boyfriend Dralin Carswell starting when she was 16. However, there was another claim that she lived with her sister, Jessica Shannon her last two years of high school. This was while Pumpkin was pregnant. It seems everyone has profited off of Alana and her Honey Boo Boo name except Alana herself.

it’s sad to see Alana, Jessica, and Pumpkin, so over weight. oh well that’s what they want so be it….
it’s also sad to see them act just like June…I don’t care for their show any longer….it’s too scripted, and to full of nonsense, and they are all nut cases…… WE tv can’t you find something better to show than them?
It is time to let Alana have to peace so she can go to college and start living her life.
And for the author….is there not something more newsworthy and honest that you could be writing about? With those degrees it seems sad you are writing pieces like this that is based on guess and opinion and not facts. Put your education to use and contribute to society.
i think it should be off the air the money they make and get from followers is terrible asking for money selling junk things for high in things they are all no good

Alana Isa teenager and has many things she likes to do…pumpkin and hubby are taking very good care of her…when they asked June for the money from Alana’s money she earned..
it’s gone…ok everybody stick up for the drug addiction that stole this poor girls money for her addiction…now Alana has to figure out how and where the money is coming from.
I praise Alana …she’s going to fight for her dreams….so if anyone she get the praise it’s alana..
