Kelly Ripa Reveals 17-Year-Old Dog’s Really Bad Day
Kelly Ripa took time on Live With Kelly And Mark to share some sad news about her dog, Chewie. The 17-year-old rescue’s health is not what it should be. The former star of All My Children explained what happened to little Chewie, the rescue dog she and her husband Mark Consuelos share, on the dog’s really bad day.
Get To Know Chewie
Kelly Ripa rescued the now 17-year-old dog years ago. She is loved by Mark Consuelos and their three adult children Michael, 26, Lola, 22, and Joaquin, 21. Chewie is the older sister to Lena who was adopted by the family during a segment of the talk show.
Kelly Ripa Wanted To Leave Set To Be With Chewie
“It’s torture. It’s really torture. Because she can’t tell you,” Kelly Ripa told her husband, Mark Consuelos, explaining how she was feeling about their dog getting old.” Chewie was not doing well. She was having such a bad day, Kelly Ripa wanted to stop filming Live With Kelly And Mark. The talk show host wanted to home with their beloved Chewie.
“Like, I’m still, I’m concerned,” Kelly Ripa said. “Like, I don’t want to be here. I feel like I need to get home.” Despite the dog’s health issue, the talk show host was able to tough it out and finish the show.
Chewie’s Really Bad Day
Mark Consuelos explained Chewie’s day on Live With Kelly And Mark. “But she’s 17 years old, so she was just having a day,” the co-host explained. His wife did not agree. She quickly called it “a really bad day.”
“You know, I don’t know if you noticed yesterday. Our dog Chewie — who is very, very old now — was really disoriented,” Kelly Ripa explained. “She walked into a wall yesterday; she fell over. It’s just one of those things, you know, when your dog starts to get old.”
Viewers could tell Kelly Ripa was truly heartbroken over Chewie’s health. “She does tell you a lot with her eyes. She’s like, ‘Sigh. Can you believe this?’ I’m like, ‘I can’t!'”

Mark Consuelos Tried To Comfort Kelly Ripa
It wasn’t only the viewers that could tell Kelly was distraught. This did not go unnoticed by her husband. Mark Consuelos told his wife and everyone else about how Chewie was doing. He said the dog was acting more like herself later in the day and even “jumped up on the bed last night and was sleeping between us.”
Kelly Ripa admitted she knew there was nothing she could to help little Chewie. “She’s good,” Mark Consuelos said, still trying to make things better for his wife.
At the time of publication, there was no additional information about Chewie. Fans will have to stay tuned for updates about the dog’s health.

No, Kelly was not overreacting! She’s had Chewie for 17 years as part of her family & she loves him💔 I got a ShizTzu shortly after they did & I just had to put mine down 2 mos ago, & I’m still devastated. I loved her and miss her everyday. They are the best companions anyone could ask for..
