‘Today’ Why Was Hoda Kotb Abruptly MIA From Show?

Hoda and Jenna aired on Wednesday, March 27, but after a bit of time, Hoda Kotb disappeared from the show, requiring someone else to step into the gap. At the time, there was no explanation as to why the Today talk show’s co-host left, but there are a few things that might have needed her attention.

Hoda Kotb & Jenna Bush Hager Got A Stand-In Co-Host

Sometimes, the co-hosts on Today need time for either personal recreation or important reasons. However, if they go away, they often announce it before departure. Actually, Hoda was away recently, taking a nice break. So something else must have popped up. However, she also runs the Making Spaces podcast, and on March 27, she talked on social media about interviewing author Arthur Brooks. So perhaps she left Hoda and Jenna early for that.

Whatever caused her to leave Today’s Hoda and Jenna on Wednesday wasn’t a problem with her daughter, Hope who fell ill in February. Talk show fans know that because just a  few hours ago, she shared a reel of her four-year-old on her little scooter. However, Hoda Kotb might have rushed to console a friend because she also posted about someone who lost her mom.

Hoda And Jenna On Today Gets Willie Geist

Why Hope’s mom disappeared mysteriously from the show, isn’t known, but it seemed like a good episode. Willie Geist who stepped in with Jenna Bush Hager chatted with Maya Rudolph, Ron Funches, and Nat Faxon “about their roles in the AppleTV+ series Loot. 

Hoda Kotb wasn’t mentioned at all, and Jenna Bush Hager and Willie Geist chatted about lots of things, including his guest role on Curb Your Enthusiasm. Jenna joked that he should try out for The Young and the Restless. However, he’s not interested in that.

Actually, Today’s fans might not mind if Willie Geist got on a drama show like Y&R, because in the comments on Twitter (X), @mychaelb123 said, “All that and bonus Geist.

It’s not the first time fans of Hoda and Jenna saw Willie Geist hosting, and last year, he stepped in after Savannah Guthrie left Today. At the time, Willie irritated Hoda Kotb a bit by getting smart with his lobster-cracking moves.
