Mama June Shannon does not think that her daughter Alana Thompson is ready for college. She also does not think she is ready to live on her own and provide for herself. However, her sister Lauryn Efird thinks the exact opposite. She thinks Alana should not stay in Georgia and she needs to get a fresh start on her own. Could June want her to stay because she missed out on a lot of her childhood due to her drug addiction?

Mama June Does Not Think She Is Ready

Mama June does not think Alana Thompson is ready to leave her home and she has made that clear. She has given her opinion on the matter and does not want her to fail. However, some people think it could be because June missed out on so much of her life while she was addicted to drugs.

“Alana’s college deadline is coming very fastly,” she told cameras. “Do I think she’s ready for college? Nope. But me and Pumpkin are all the time fussin’ cause she’s like ‘Let her spread her wings, let her spread her wings.’ I don’t want her to spread her wings and damn crash,”

This is hard for Lauryn to let go because she wants Alana to get out and make herself a life of her own.

Lauryn Defends Alana And Her Choices

Lauryn Efird does not agree with Mama June’s opinions. She has defended Alana and her decision even though June does not think she is ready.

“I’m just trying to defend Alana because at the end of the day, like I don’t know if Mama is mad because she missed so much time with Alana and f—ed up over the years and now Alana’s moving away, Alana doesn’t need to stay in Georgia, there’s nothing but bad memories, drama and b—– that surrounds Mama 24/7. It would be nice for everyone to get a fresh slate,”

College has allowed Alana to better herself and her future. It seems as though Mama June does not see it that way.

It seems as though Mama June is being overprotective when she does not necessarily have the right to be. Lauryn was her legal guardian while June was suffering from her drug addiction. She and her husband Josh think Alana going to college is one of the best things she can do for herself. What parent would not want their child to further their education if that is what they wish to do? What do you think about June’s thoughts on Alana going to college? Sound off in the comments below.
