The View star Joy Behar opened up about some of her childhood trauma revolving around male nudity on the show last week. Other panelists on the show weighed in on the subject, considering some of their own childhood traumas. Keep reading to see what Joy Behar and the rest of The View cast had to say about the hot topic.

Joy Behar Shares Traumatic Childhood Memories

The subject came up when the ladies started discussing Bradley Cooper’s admission that he doesn’t mind walking around naked in his home. This came as a surprise to the women because Cooper shares his home with his six-year-old daughter. For Joy Behar, it brought up bad childhood memories.

She began to recall the trauma of seeing nude men at the age of 10. “I never saw anything when I was a child except when [my parents would] take me to Coney Island, and these men would wear these loose drawers, and Mr. Happy would fall out,” she shared. “That was like, so traumatizing to me.” Joy said she remembered also seeing grown women naked at Coney Island as well.

Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, and Ana Navarro all weighed in with their opinions about nudity in their homes.

“I do not enjoy walking around naked,” Sara Haines opened up. However, she said that her children have seen her naked on occasion. “I’m not naked very often. I do not cover myself up immediately between my shower and my lotions when my kids come running in because I’ve made a deliberate effort for them to not feel ashamed of their bodies and to remind them that it’s science,” she said.

Sunny Hostin shared a similar stance on the topic. “They’ve seen anything they can see while I’m putting on my lotion. They don’t look at me,” she said about her children.

Fellow co-host Ana Navarro said that she was thankful that her parents didn’t walk around naked. “I’m just glad I made it to 52 without seeing my father’s schlong or my mother’s hoo-hah,” she said laughing. “That would put me in therapy.”
