Why Did Kelly Rowland Disappear From The ‘Today’ Show?
Kelly Rowland reportedly stormed off the set of Today on Thursday after an altercation about her dressing room. The Destiny’s Child star was slated to fill in for Jenna Bush Hager on the show’s Today With Jenna & Hoda segment. However, she ditched her commitment to the show and left. Why Kelly Rowland Stormed Off The Set Of Today
The R&B singer and actress appeared on Today at 8 a.m. to promote her new Tyler Perry-produced Netflix movie. She discussed the film, “Mea Culpa,” with Savannah Guthrie. However, just two hours later, Kelly Rowland was disgruntled and leaving the set of the daily talk show.

Apparently, Kelly Rowland and her team did not like their accommodations at the Today studio. She was not happy with her dressing room and, although the team tried to offer her various other options, she declined and decided to leave.
A source told Page Six, “Kelly and her team were not happy. They did not like the dressing room, so they decided to pull her off the show, leaving [Kotb] without a guest host for the 10 a.m. hour.”
First, Kelly and her team requested a green room upstairs at Today because she wasn’t content with the room she was in. To her dismay, the room she was requesting was already occupied by Jennifer Lopez who was there to promote her new album. J-Lo arrived prior to Kelly Rowland, so she got the first choice of dressing rooms that morning.
Today Dressing Rooms Are Notoriously Bad
This isn’t the first time producers at Today have had complaints about their dressing rooms. They are known to be extremely small. One source described them as “glorified closets.”
“They’re not nice. It’s the oldest building. There are major space limitations, [it’s] not glamorous. It’s not fresh flowers, and candles and gourmet food. It’s basically [a] white box,,” the insider shared. That being said, the Today crew tried to do everything they could to please Kelly with what they had to offer.
Many people were left shocked and confused by her sudden exit. The insider said, “[Kelly is] beloved at ‘Today.’ She was getting the full hour, and Hoda’s the biggest hype woman on the planet! It made no sense.”
Luckily for Hoda Kotb, Rita Ora was on set and stepped up and volunteered to take Kelly Rowland’s spot. It was revealed that Rita took a dressing room that was similar in size to the one that Kelly refused to accept.

Representatives for Kelly Rowland and Today have not released any statements regarding the incident.
