Mayim Bialik Back To ‘Jeopardy!’ Post-Firing?
Is Mayim Bialik headed back to Jeopardy! after being fired from the long-running series? She and Ken Jennings had been sharing hosting duties until the strikes took over. Ultimately, Bialik stepped back and then was let go. So, is she making a comeback? Read on for more details.
Mayim Bialik Back To Jeopardy! Post-Firing?
When the legendary Alex Trebek passed away, it was time to find a new Jeopardy! host. The show had a bunch of guest hosts, hoping to find the right fit. In the end, they chose epic winner, Ken Jennings and actress, Mayim Bialik. Bialik holds a Ph.D. in neuroscience so she seemed to be a good fit with Jennings and the two would switch off. Plus, they would take on different extra games like Celebrity Jeopardy! and the Tournament of Champions. Then, the writers’ strike happened and it caused Bialik to step back. Add in the SAG-AFTRA strike and she was on hiatus.
This meant Ken Jennings was stepping up full-time and viewers were not upset. They preferred him to her as she had quirks that made her an undesirable hostess. After a long enough time without Bialik, it became clear that the show only needed one host so Mayim was let go. However, she broke the news before she was supposed to which could have caused drama. Yet, she may be coming back, according to The Sun. Michael Davies, EP of the hit game show, shared there is still room for a comeback.
He shared that it was not an ideal situation when he took over Jeopardy! with the co-host scenario.
“When I took over the show, we were forced into that situation. Over the past two and a half seasons, what we’ve heard from a lot of television stations and other interested parties is that they wanted more consistency. They wanted a single host.”
Davies has high praise for Mayim Bialik as a host and they are hopeful to “continue working with her on primetime versions.” It has been less than two months since the actress revealed she had been cut from Jeopardy!
A Good Gig?
So, would Mayim Bialik like to come back to her home at Jeopardy! in some capacity? This is unclear as it was rumored she did not want a taste of the show. She wanted to either be back in full capacity or be done for good. So, it would likely take some coercing and fan involvement to get her back for a few specials but it’s nice to know the door is cracked.
