On the December 6 episode of Celebrity Jeopardy, Ken Jennings noted that the contestants seem to be avoiding a particular category. Seemingly, Kyra Sedgwick, Mo Rocca, and Amanda Seales were experiencing intimidation of the new TIME Person Of The Year.

Celebrity Jeopardy Contestants Battle It Out

When the Celebrity Jeopardy competition made it to the standoff in the last quarterfinal game of the season, it got tense. In the normal battle of the wits, celebrity contestants Kyra Sedgwick, Mo Rocca, and Amanda Seales zinged through the categories, except for one. Holding out until the very end, the three contenders left one category untouched. Even in the Double Jeopardy! round, this category remained: “Also A Taylor Swift Song.”

Celebrity Jeopardy Throws A Curve Ball

As the game continued, the full category remained on the Celebrity Jeopardy board. With few options remaining, one brave soul finally dared to pick the Taylor Swift question for $200. Notably, selecting a low amount to avoid taking too much risk, Kyra Sedgwick attempted. Then the answer was revealed, “Careful! This washing machine cycle using cold water and low spin speed is suggested for lingerie & silk neckties.” Stumping all three contestants, it was “What is Delicate?” An easy reply for the Swifties out there.

However, the clues in the category weren’t as scary as the Celebrity Jeopardy participants originally thought. And in the end, journalist Mo Rocca pelted out several answers to win the round. Additionally, he will advance to the semifinals. At this point, one million dollars will be the prize for one lucky celebrity charity.

Fans Are Stunned

While Swifties everywhere were dumbfounded by the avoidance, these three Celebrity Jeopardy participants showed their hesitation until the bitter end. But fans took to the X platform to talk about their observances:

  • “They’re avoiding the Taylor Swift category like the plague. Way to disrespect the newly minted Time Person of the Year.”
  • “Why are we not playing the ‘Also a Taylor Swift Song’ category on Celeb Jeopardy???”
  • “They kept putting it off and I couldn’t fathom why!”
  • Celebrity Jeopardy is on and there was a Taylor Swift category that everybody avoided until they couldn’t anymore my husband knew the answers, contestants not so much.”
  • “Swifties call out ‘Celebrity Jeopardy!’ contestants for avoiding the Taylor Swift category.”
  • I don’t even like Taylor swift but I got every question except for one right on celebrity jeopardy tonight…. So I’ll take that as a win.”

Notably, on January 2, Celebrity Jeopardy will be switching things up for the viewers. As a result, the show will air on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET instead of its usual Wednesday night time slot.
