Abbott Elementary Kicks Off Season 3 With NFL Star
After a lengthy holiday break, your favorite ABC shows are returning with all-new episodes. Season 28 of The Bachelor premiered in January. Fan favorite shows The Connors, Abbott Elementary, and Will Trent are among the shows returning this month.
Abbott Elementary is a mockumentary sitcom that follows a group of teachers as they navigate the education system at an underfunded public school.
The ensemble cast includes Quinta Brunson (Janine,) Tyler James Williams (Gregory,) Janelle James (Ava,) Lisa Ann Walter (Melissa,) and Sheryl Lee Ralph (Barbara.)
Golden Bachelor Crossover
ABC’s fall schedule for 2023 included the first-ever season of The Golden Bachelor. It featured 72-year-old Gerry Turner looking for his second chance at love among a group of women his age.
It was a far cry from the usual 20-somethings on the flagship Bachelor show. The senior dating show was so popular that viewers have been clamoring for a Golden Bachelorette spinoff with a female lead.
Everyone in Bachelor Nation seems to have an opinion on who should get the coveted role. Soap star Susan Lucci is the latest name thrown into the ring.
Well, was the latest name. During the Season 3 premiere of Abbott Elementary, a new contender came into play. As reported by PEOPLE magazine, the school principal, Ava, suggested the idea of Barbara trying out for the ABC senior dating show.
“Ava, I’ve already told you, I’m not interested in auditioning for The Golden Bachelorette,” Barbara said in response before adding that her husband Gerald is still alive.
The Season 3 premiere also featured a cameo from Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, who appears on career day via video.
The Eagles were knocked out of Super Bowl contention after losing to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during the playoffs.
The characters of Abbott Elementary are huge fans of the NFL team.

Abbott Elementary fans took to Twitter to live-tweet the show. Many fans found the Golden Bachelorette joke funny.
One viewer tweeted that they would “absolutely” watch the fictional character Barbara Howard on a season of The Golden Bachelorette.
