1000-Lb Sisters fans are enjoying the ongoing season. This year, viewers watched Tammy Slaton board an airplane for the first time. It was an amazing milestone for the TLC star, but fans wished Amy Halterman would have joined Tammy on the plane.

Onscreen, Amy adamantly stated she had no intention of flying. But is there more to the story?

1000-Lb Sisters fans recently took to Reddit to debate the situation. What did they have to say?

Amy Halterman had no desire to fly

As the current season continues, 1000-Lb Sisters fans think Amy Halterman needs help. It’s clear that she’s struggling with depression amid her divorce and navigating life as a single mother.

But why exactly did she choose to drive to Florida instead of flying? Some viewers thought she made the situation more challenging for herself.

“Amy not wanting to fly to Florida,” one Redditor shared online. “I remember a few seasons ago Amy, Michael and baby Gage, flew to Atlanta for a Drs appointment with Dr. Procter and was fine. It’s clear as day that Amy struggles with both boys and I’m wondering if that was the reason she refused to fly with everyone else and why she had Amanda’s son Justin drive them down which took about 12 hours…”

The OP went on to ask for other viewers’ opinions on the situation. Did other 1000-Lb Sisters fans think Amy would have flown if she didn’t have two small children to care for?

Overall, other Redditors seemed to think it was a combination of the long distance on top of Gage and Glenn.

I would think that flying for a couple hours would have been much easier than driving for 9+ hours just to get the traveling part done and over with. But to be fair, I don’t like flying either,” someone else chimed in.

“Flying with kids is hard but the plane ride would have been terrible for Amy because she has no control over Gage,” another Reddit user wrote. “Plus with her fragile mental state she knew it would be too much to handle so I actually applaud her for seeing the writing on the wall and avoiding it.”

The Florida saga continues tonight

Teasers for tonight’s episode hint that things are about to boil over in Florida. Fans already know the siblings got into a physical altercation during filming last summer. Tonight’s episode is expected to feature the big fight, but TLC does have a habit of dragging storylines out.
