‘1000-Lb Sisters’ Fans Find Shocking Throwback Pic
1000-Lb Sisters fans love watching the five siblings explore the world around them as they work on their weight loss goals. It’s almost impossible to think about a time when TLC fans didn’t know the family.
But they did have a life before they entered the world of reality television.
Online, fans recently unearthed an old photo from the family’s past and were fairly surprised. Keep reading to see the photo and learn what fans had to say.
1000-Lb Sisters fans uncover an old photo of the family matriarch
When 1000-Lb Sisters first premiered, Tammy Slaton and Amy Halterman knew they had a long weight loss journey ahead of them. However, their mother Darlene wasn’t entirely supportive of their plan.
As the show continued, fans quickly realized why the siblings had so many emotional and psychological struggles. Darlene rarely supported them and could even be cruel at times.
An old photo of Darlene recently surfaced online, showing fans a completely different side of the woman audiences know today.
“Old picture of Darlene,” a Redditor shared online. They attached a photo from Darlene’s youth. She beams from ear to ear and seems quite different than the harsh matriarch fans see onscreen today.
Other Reddit users were also surprised to see Darlene smiling in a photo. Some of the comments included:
- “Looks like Amanda.”
- “Amy looks the most like her.”
- “I can see Amy in her. Crazy what a hard life can do to you.”
- “She had such healthy thick hair, flawless skin and a beautiful smile. It’s sad to think what her life must have been like to make her so bitter and emotionally unavailable to her kids (as seen in the first 2 seasons).”
The siblings rose above their turbulent upbringing
Although many family members tend to receive more and more screen time as the show goes on, Darlene doesn’t seem interested in participating. It’s been quite some time since she appeared on the show and the siblings also don’t bring her up very often.
Even though Darlene doesn’t seem to have a strong connection with her children, the five siblings seem to be doing just fine today. They’ve had their own share of problems, but 1000-Lb Sisters fans have been incredibly proud of the cast members this year. During this week’s episode, Tammy even boarded an airplane for the first time.
Absolutely anything could happen from here on out.
