Derek Hough Gives Update As Wife Preps For Skull Surgery
Right now, many Dancing With The Stars fans are incredibly concerned about Derek Hough’s wife Hayley.
Many dancers sustain injuries while on tour, but few end up in situations quite like Hayley Erbert Hough’s. Although the dancer seems to be in stable condition right now, fans are waiting with bated breath for news and updates on her condition.
Today, Derek Hough shared an update and continued to ask for positive thoughts and prayers for his family. What exactly did he have to say?
Derek Hough stopped his tour to care for his wife Hayley
Hayley Erbert Hough was rushed to a hospital in Washington D.C. the night of December 6 following a performance on her husband’s tour. And that’s where the couple has been ever since. Physicians diagnosed Hayley with a cranial hematoma from a burst blood vessel that required urgent attention.
Effective immediately, Derek postponed the remainder of his tour to care for Hayley during this terrifying chapter.
As Hayley recovers, Derek has been updating the public through his social media channels. He recently shared a short video of himself and Hayley going for a short walk in D.C. The video does not show their faces, but the pair appear visibly exhausted. Hayley also wears a helmet to protect her fragile skull.
Now, it appears that Hayley is going in for another skull surgery and will need all the positive vibes and well-wishes she can possibly get.

After Hayley’s initial emergency surgery, Derek shared that she would require at least one more follow-up surgery. Today appears to be the surgery date. He shared a brief update and asked for continued thoughts and prayers for his wife.
“I strongly believe all the prayers that have been sent with the intention and love of Hayley’s recovery has helped so much,” the DWTS judge shared in an Instagram story. “I can’t thank you all enough. She is going in for surgery this morning to replace a l large portion of her skull that was removed during her Craniectomy. Please keep her in your prayers as I believe the collective energy helped her through these past few weeks. We love you. We think you.”
It’s certainly going to be a difficult recovery process, especially as the holidays approach. Thankfully, the Houghs sought immediate medical attention and it seems that Hayley is receiving the best care possible.
